I've done a search but can't find the info. Has anyone bought the full kit recently (ie. replacing all tweed bits) and did you get it fitted by someone? If you did it yourself, how many hours do you reckon it took you in the end? I'm seriously looking to do this and want to get as much info as I can before I decide whether it's a good idea or not lol

Any pics you have would be brill as well :)

Thanks guys

Sorry, no pics (maybe Santa will bring me a digital camera!! :hyper: ) but I have fitted the kit myself.

First bit of advice is to TAKE YOUR TIME. I reckon I spent about 3 hours on the rear 'bucket' seats, about another 3 hours on the back rest of the rear seats. Passenger side front took about 8-10 hours and at leat 10 hours for the drivers side electric seat (got lots of fiddly motor bits to get round  ) It was the first time I'd even attempted anything like this so I'm sure someone with more expertise or manual dexterity would do MUCH better. In my defence, I was also watching TV and had a few big phat burners on the go!! ;)

I found I needed to modify (flash word for CUT) a few of the metal strengthening rods on the backs of the front seats to get them to fit, and I also left off a couple of really stubby rods that go in the front of the bottom of the front seats (if you get what I mean - you will when you see it) These rods you take out of your original tweed covers, SO BE CAREFUL TAKING THE OLD COVERS OFF. If you do lose any, or even need more, a wire coat hanger works well.

I got through about 300 black cable ties that were approx 6" long (I just KNOW people are gonna rip this post to threads! :slap: )

Oh, and if you can get some mini bolt cutters for cutting the original brass securing rings off that would be a help. Even with BIG wire cutters they will mash you hands to shit!

Work in sections, and zip up the cable ties loosly until you're sure everythings stretched and lined up correctly, then zip them tight.

I didn't manage to fit the cover for the centre arm rest and even with MUCHO stretching it wouldn't fit  Other than that everything was a fantastic fit and the quality of leather is top notch!!

Good luck!!!!

Some good advice there :D

I Know Matty and Daves_new_ZX have recently swopped Leather also, I think thye both put Pics up, try a search!!

Where's your sense of smug pride!!?!? Go on, have a go!!

My sense of smug pride left me when I realised I'm "DoItYourselfely Challenged"

Seriously, I would rather spend some extra cash paying someone to do it properly, then me fecking it up and it looking shite... ;)

Kay where are you based ?

We have a guy that does our re-trims and he has done a 300zx before, it was also a club members (Jeremy).

are you just looking for the seats to be done or trim panels as well?

The whole lot mate. Basically replace anything tweed with leather. :hyper:

I'm very interested in more information, you're not that far from me :)

Hi Mark,

I'd be interested in some prices too.

Vijay

Do you have the whole kit already if so you are just looking for a labour price ?

  • Author

Nope don't have the kit yet, I thought it was only sold through Zcentre. So if you sell them I'd be interested in a deal for the kit and fitting.

The kit that was fitted before was a Zcentre kit.

Call me on 0208 589 9710

And it looks the Mutt's Nuts !!

Thanks for the pic Jeremy, I can't decide to go for all black or two tone, not sure what would look good in a dark red Zed... My wife wants all black but I'mconvinced Black and White looks awesome!

Might have to put my foot down on this one, wish me luck :x:

And it looks the Mutt's Nuts !!

Certainly does!! The same colour i fancy too!! :)

Very nice !, do you know the name of those colours you picked ? Is it just Black and White ?

EDIT - Charcol and Dove Grey - I should learn how to read :smash:

I'm going to be sending off a cheque to Luke for a pearl / dark graphite combo as soon as I've got the engine checked over (and found out how much cash I have to spend on new engine bits) - looks fantastic!

Does anyone have any other pics of the Zcentre kit fitted, in colours other than the Dark Charcol and Dove grey (Im a fan of that combo, but interested to see other options) ?
