Transmission Oil Cooler Leak

Had the car at the gargage this morning, he had a good look over the car, he found the transmission oil cooler had a crack in it, he's going to take it out tomorrow to get aa proper look at it, he said it my be possible to weld the crack, is this a good option or should I get the unit replaced, is it expensive.

Cheers

John, is your car a manual or automatic ?

If it's a manual you can get away with bypassing the cooler.(or maybe you could get one from a breaker)

Eric,

It's a manual, won't bypassing it do any harm??

JOHN

No, the bypass won't harm much, unless you drive over 150mph for long periods of time...

The manual J-specs and US-specs haven't got the transmission and differential-coolers either.

£600 for a new oil cooler!!!!

Luckily they were able to weld it, and it works fine now.
