Hi folks, I have an imported 300ZX TT but it is speed limited to 118MPH. Is there an easy way of removing the restriction? I've been looking at the circuit diagram & can see that the signal from the speedo goes to the ECU. If I remove this, will it remove the limitation?

I'm also converting it from Auto to Manual box as I fried the Auto box!!!

There are 2 ways of doing this:

Either buy a Blitz De-Limiter (very easy install) - £90

or buy a new ECU (such as JWT) £500 which gives you also a lot of power.

I am not aware of any other method.

As for the conversion...I wouldnt recommend it. Lots of money.

You will need the Turbos of the Manual (cause bigger) and also there are some other differences which you can find searching on TT.net

But its up to you. Check www.levelten.com

Check out the 300ZX section on here...

Then ring Johnny at GPS for a real price.

Try contacting Luke Borg at the ZCenter (contact details to the left under "Contacts & Links"). He sold me a delimiter for about £85 and it was a doddle to install. It also cures the irritating "ping" at 62mph and converts the odometer reading to miles (rather than kilometers). You can still use the original speedo face plate (which should be in kmh) as it will now read in mph. Also the cruise control works between 40-115mph.

Good luck.

Cheers for that guys.

Nitro, I've been given everything to convert from Auto to Manual for £700 including flywheel, clutch assembly inc pedaly, cylinders, booster, prop shaft, oil cooler. I 've checked the cct diagram & there are only a few re-wiring jobs needed. I've checked the engine & turbos & they're the same according to the manual.

I'll let you know how I get on!!

I believe the turbos are different, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. You'll just have a bit more torque lower down than the manual would normally have, and it'll run out of puff a little at very high revs.

Just means more wheelspin !!!

Isnt the ECU different on the Auto? I'm ure also, that the cams are sightly different too....

Could be wrong tho.

If you ring SE and try and get hold of Pete, they've done this for Coogs I think...Mr. P correct me if I'm wrong mate wink.gif

Manual from Auto conversion I'm on about!

The Auto's turbos have a different AR ratio (0.63 I think) from the manual, and the cams have a different profile. However peak power & torque is the same, just comes in lower with the auto setup.

ECU is different, I believe an Auto ECU will work with a Manual car, but I think you'll forever get a fault code because it wont be getting the signals from the Auto box.

Wiring loom is different in part for the same reasons, however this doesn't need changing (I dont believe)

Obviously you need bits like the gear lever etc etc biggrin.gif

Hell, I didn't know there were so many differences! It doesn't tell you about half of this stuff in the service manual, well I couldn't see it anyway!

Should be fun!!!
