Cold problem?

When my ZX is cold and I put my foot down to drive off, the car proceeds through the revs pausing and holding power, if you look at the rev counter its as if I have pushed my foot down, lifted it off, pushed it down lifted it off etc, lasts only as long as it takes to get the car up to running temp, any ideas?

it has a shift kitted autobox btw

I get something similar. Think it is the ECU doing the temporary timing retardation just at the upshift point from 1st to 2nd. The cold engine seems to flat spot rather than just soften the upshift as its supposed to do. Maybe the experts out there could confirm if this is also indicative of maybe too retarded ignition timing to start with.

Don't put your foot down when it has not got

up to working temp! You WILL dammage the engine!
