Sorry to bring this up again but I need help.

My speedo still doesnt work here are the symptums

1. Speedo doesnt work under 40mph. Over that it starts to work approx anyway.

2. It works under 30mph in the cold. Cold nights it works unitl things warm up and then it stops. I dont know if its until the engine warms up or the cockpit.

3. The power light is not flashing.

4. The powersteering still works

5. The ordomiter and trip metre still works as do all the other dials.

6. Cruise Control still works

7. I have took it apart and resoldered the joints I can get to. I helps for a while but then goes back to not working.

8. Im pisses off and I dont want to waste money on the wrong thing. £100 for a speed sonsor and £250 for a new dash board only to find somthing else.

Any suggestions are welcome. What do you lot think it is?

Cheers

Stuart.

Stuart, not sure what to suggest other than swopping bits out.. If you are ever down my way you're welcome to swop dash's temporarily to see if that cures it - 30 minute job..

Thats Slough BTW...

When did it stop working ?

I think the speed sensor is the source for the signal for both the speedo and the trip/odo, as they are driven by a little leccy motor.

My initial feeling is that the clock itself (which is only a moving coil meter - I think) is dying. Take all that side apart and look for potentially bad or broken (cracked) connections that may expand when warm.

You could also find someone with a Techtom or Consult, because that will confirm that the speed sensor is working.

Have you got a km/miles convertor on it ?
