got some clocks from the scrappy for a tenner :p and tried fitting them earlier, the two smaller plugs on the right hand side were a different size though. is this common with all jap-to-uk conversions? if so do i need to rewire with new plugs or is there an adapter available?

I put uk clocks in a j spec and they fitted straight in. only difference I found was the the little tabs on the corners that hold wiring for the warning lights.

Had the same problems, from memory I took the dials out of the UK spec cluster and put them in my old cluster and all works to UK spec, HTH.

The differences are between series I and series II, not Jap and UK.

As the other guys say, it should work when you change them, I've done an SII --> SI and that worked fine.

Yes, John Dixon has jogged my memory, it was a series II but easy to swap over just a few screws and its done, if you got them for a tenner then thats a real bargain, I paid nearly £100
