As the title am just posting to say a huge thanks to the Wizard of Wiltshire -Mr Baggins.. My autobox went bang about 2 months ago and Ryan came to the rescue with an absolutely blinding fast road upgrade, which apparently (his words not mine) is the most powerful autobox currently in a zed (certainly bloody feels like it!)and the only one of its kind in the country-as yet.

well where do I start? :D the gearchanges are smoother and much sharper, no laggy clutch feel when changing up and it holds the power right up to the change point :hyper: . The biggest change is the smoothness, you can hardly notice the first or second change at all and the rest of the gear changes are so much crisper than a standard box which means when you plant your right foot you really get pinned back your seat!! :D awesome... truly awesome

the most fun is to be had with the o/d switched off :hyper:  :D :hyper: suffice it to say its really hard to reach the dash when accelerating if you know what i mean!!

Oh and was accelerating away from a set of lights on thursday night and it "chirped" the tyres changing into 4th!!!!

All in all an absolutely stunning job dropped the car off on Wednesday night, and picked it up Thursday evening !!

So to any of you who are having gearbox trouble SPEAK TO BAGGINS immediately or sooner. If you dont, you want your head read!!

Once again thanks Ryan for a top notch job, as you can probably tell, I am well chuffed :D :D :D

So Andy, it's not true that your car is slower now you've had the manual conversion done? :x:

I don't think it is slower,I am lead to beleive it has less power

 :x: I thought it was the auto box that drained the power?

:D:D:D:D:D

Mines on Order

:D:D:D:D:D

Liam does not have the most powerful autobox in the UK as power comes from the engine not the box  but what he does have is the strongest auto box that I am aware of on a zed in the uk these boxes have had a complete rebuild where nearly all of the components where possible have been upgraded including oil modifications etc these boxes will handle 500RWHP  , not only these new boxes change quicker but they also change much smoother than before, there is a possibility of another version with valve modification that could potentially handle 700RWHP but the cost of the additional modifications are looking rather expensive at the moment.

the company I have used to provide these rebuild parts have provided the autobox's for some of the most powerful 300zx Auto's in the US with great success.

The cost of these boxes are £1500 fitted that includes a new uprated oil cooler which as we all know is a must for the longevity of the box, if you already have an upgraded cooler then the price is just £1350.

How would it be slower, now that I have a direct connection between the crank and the rear wheels? True, on a different dyno, on a different day etc etc I get a different number, but it certainly doesn't feel slower.

Whatever makes you happy, I changed my autobox for a manual and have never once regretted it.

I stand corrected. We've had this conversation (at least) once before - http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=20989 - and I keep getting 'slower' and 'less bhp' confused. :slap:

Good question , if they have developed one for the 200 then yes I can get hold of them

Cool - I'm OK for now, but will probably need it done sometime.

BTW....

There's a guy on the sxoc who is selling an S13 (manual I think) which has ~630 engine BHP (>500 RWHP). He spent >£75,000 !! What a car ! 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds - that's faster than a Ferrari ! Top speed over 200MPH.

Most guys going for big power go manual, but I love my autobox and wud never want to go back - it's nice to know I wouldn't necessarily need to !

Yep thats a fast car, but i'm afraid I'd have to say "What a Dick", because it won't drive anywhere as well as a Ferrari or be as good an investment and maybe,( but not deffinate, because of things like weight and weight distribution + traction) be quicker on the drag strip.

I know it starts out by just doing small things that get out of control. I've spent best part of £30k on mine and think "what a dick" I could have had a Noble by now and still had a reasonably quick, but near standard Z.

well I started as auto, but went manual because I find that the lag/false neutral you get with all autos can lead to some none requested arse out moments i'd rather not replicate when hurtling through the twistys. I prefer to have that level of control because my driving style is ragged and arsey at times anyway. However around town, on Motorways and straight roads The auto has its merrits and as autos go the Z needs bringing up to date. Tripotronic would be the best solution giving you the best of both worlds. Instant manual shift on command or 2 different learning auto modes.

Surely someone could cobble a good tripotromic from say a M5 into a Z and see how well it works.

thats a bit harsh! he may have spent shed loads of money on his car, but he has something individual that he has built (or has had built!), & thats what makes it so much more enjoyable when you waste a ferrari :D (all IMO)

ps, if its who i think it is the guys name is Richie, so i guess he is a "bit of a dick" :D

Yep Thats Richie Beaumonts car alright , evidently a little rust under the sills, car goes down as jack goes up. Norris designs car - v.quick, but 25k for an old s13 however modified is too much.

I bet that the only place he'd nail a Ferrari would be on a straight bit of road or a Dragg strip. You think about it though £25K will get you a slightly tired, but tasty 355 or 360 Mondena and £75K will get you a part used 575. Mmmm me thinks I know what I'd have and when I've finish my car, which I have to cos I started. I won't ever do it with another. I'll save up ang get the real thing. :nelson: :mac1:

Bl00dy nora! That's good mate, I already have the uprated cooler so when I have an uprated bank account I think you can do that magic on mine aswell as the other bits. Come on job people...ring me up you MO FO's. :(
