question

ive just fitted my blitz SBC-ID and powermeter, thanks to zedhot, but im having difficultys with the powermeter. it gives usefull stuff like speed, power, various timing stuff. on the speed side the speed digital screen seems to make accurate readings till about 70 then jumps around and hesitates. the next screen down from that is the power and speed screen which shows both in one screen. the speed on this is reading what my dash speedo reads, which is mile out as i think the converter is buggered eg shows im doing 120mph when im doing about 80. the result of this is it is totally messing up my power readings, apparently my max power is over 1000bhp.

to add a real twist to this tale, i cant under stand why. the powermeter takes its reading directly off the vehicle speed pin on the ecu.

i know its not a knackered sensor as its brand new.

any ideas cause its really bugging me!!!

cheers

The ecu takes its speed reading from the speedo head unit which as you say has most likely got a faulty speed delimter fitted, best to sort that out first then the Bltz unit will get a correct signal via the ecu.

aaaaah.

mike it did when we first fitted it, but as you said it was connected to the engine speed spin on the ecu, whicis 2 up from the spped.

your prop right jeff, but its going to have to wait till the rads sorted

cheers all

Most people with SBC-ID make the mistake to punch it at 1st gear or 2nd and

expect to get their hp. Thats wrong because you get whilspeen and that causes incorrect readings.

If you want to do it correctly, first calibrate it (enter cars weight, and factor) and then go to the highway at 4th gear and punch it until 7000RPMS then you will get somehow a good reading.
