Yipee, My K&N has come!

After 8 weeks of waiting, my K&N filter has arrived.

At the moment it is still in its box in my room. It wont do any good there.

Planning to put it in in the next few days.

Is it hard?

Please Be happy for me biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

he he he cool, but since you were so hard on me in UT last night im not tellign you biggrin.gif

lol its not to hard except for two bolts that face from the inside of the bumper, they take quite a while to get off, other than that it is straight forward

Excellent news Stuart! I'm now entering week No. 9, waiting for my JWT (= rebadged K&N) to show up from over the pond. Can't wait. Good luck with the install!

How the F%*K does it fit.

I am trying now and there is no way I can see how I can have the air flow metre and the filter on. I have bolted the filter to the splash gaurd and if there is no way the air flow metre can go on top and then goto the hose.

Help me please

Is that a K&N because that looks more coned shape ie the bottom of the filter is significently wider then the top. My one you can hardly tell the difference in size from top to bottom. Have I been given the wrong one?

Stuart

That is the same pic as is on the JWT site.

I recollect someone else having a problem fitting a different shaped filter, perhaps cylindrical rather than conical .... Where did yours come from ?

Stuart,

are you sure you got sent the right intake? I seem to recall someone from here being sent a filter for a Z31 by accident. These are much longer and narrower as they fit across the front, rather than fit lengthways.

Any intake is a tight fit though. I have the HKS one which is like a big semi-circle instead of a cone. We really had to push down on it for us to get the headlamp panel back on.

Andy

Hey Stu, sound like you got send the same filter as me - I'll send you a picture on MSN later to confirm. If it is send it back, get the money back, and phone Johnny @ GPS and get yourself a HKS. You'll get it next day!!!!

p.s. The documentation I got suggested the Z32 (1990 - 1996) - it even came with a picture of the correct filter on the front!

Here is the story so far.

After 8 weeks I get the filter,

I try to put it on today.

There is no way that it fits on to my car. The box says the right code for my car 57-6001 and the instructions I got say Nissan 300zx 1990-93. I have a 91.

I phoned the place I got it from telling them I think its the wrong one. They said come down and we will put it on. I take it down and they too cant see how it works.

They phone K&N asking them if this is the right filter cos apparently they have put the wrong filter in the box before.

After a conversation with K&N they said take my car to them and they will fit it for me.

If they cant fit it who can.

Stuart

Thanks for your help guyZ

Can't you send them a photo ? They should pretty soon suss out whether it's right or wrong then.

Has any one here got a K&N filter installed. Was it hard?

Knowing some one who worked for K&N he said the the 300ZX filter is made for the US spec, and doesnt fit on the UK and Jap spec becuase they have a front roll bar. Loads of UK and Jap ZX owners have complained about it but they refuse to redesign one for the UK and Jap market.

Def think I have the wrong one. When I try to put it in, it touches the inside of the nose and the pipes of the oil cooler and some of the mess is starting to get damaged.

K&N better not do any damage to my car to fit the thing. ie not have to remove anything or cut anything to make it fit.

P.S. Driving with out a filter is fantastic. For the first time in a long time my belly turned when I accelerated. biggrin.gif

Stock box is back on now

As promised Stu, here's a pic of the *wrong* K&N that I got sent:

Thanks Simon.

That is EXACTLY the same one that I have. After you have put the Mass Air Flow thing on there is no way that it fits in the car.

Anyway. I think that after they fail trying to put it on, I will ask for my money back.

Thanks again

Who did you get your money back off, K&N or the place you ordered it from?

I got my money back from the shop I brought it from. If fact, once I'd pointed out that the filter representation of the installation guide was the correct shape, they asked no more questions.

Hope you get yours sorted soon! smile.gif

Cos I dont have the money. I have paid £200 for the wrong K&N. After Wednesday when they fail at trying to put it in, I will get my money back and prob will.

But I have read from many placed that the BlitZ doesnt have very good filtering.

Any way see what happens. May leave it till after christmas.

Fed Up now

£200 'kin 'ell !

You can get the right one for about $100 ...

Stuart,

get your money back for the K&N filter & buy a Blitz. Superb quality & performance. I've had no issues with filtration.

No doubt Johnny boy can supply you with one at the best price.
