Any members of The Association of British Drivers?

Any members of The Association of British Drivers on here? Or anyone here thinking of joining?

I've been looking at http://www.abd.org.uk/ some interesting reading!

Heres some quotes I found on the site:

The car is the last bastion of freedom - this must be overturned."

"The Highways Agency should act as a management authority allocating permits to drive into towns. People should be made to wait at the perimeter until a space becomes available."

"People who live in the country say they need to drive into towns - I say it's their fault for living in the country."

Kristine Beuret, Social Research Associates & Leicester Pedestrians Association, speaking at SERA conference 1997

"speed limits should be made very low and rigidly enforced to take all the glamour out of motoring"

Friends of the Earth, 1995

"Speed cameras have their limitations...but when these matters can be overcome they will be a sure winner for raising revenue"

The Metropolitan Police magazine, Metline, March 1999

Trev,

have been meaning to join for about 2 yrs - just never got round to it.

You're quite right, there are so few pro motoring organisations that we really should support those that are. We used to have the AA but since it became the gas board they're only interested in making money and towing the party line.

Maybe I'll get around to joining now, not least of all for use of the UK speed traps listings, I've added a few to it myself ove that past year.
