Please can someone give me a good arguement as to why the 300zx is better over the mk3 supra. Im always argueing with my mate, as he says that his mk3 supra is a better car and i only know the basics about the z32 to come back at him with !! Ive been in his and im sure the Z is a better car!!!!

Looks, performance & handling the Z was a mk3 soop beater in all, and according to legend. the reason Toyota delayed the release of the mk4 soop was in direct response to the Z32 and redesigned the whole engine of the mk4.

 

Supra mk3 dated looks - Z32 timeless!

Its def a Mk3 Supra, He says his has wishbone suspension all round where the Z32 dosent. And his has self adjusting suspension ect ect , what has the Z32 got that leaves the supra behind??

Doesn't have wishbones all round, yeah we have struts on the front and leaf springs at the back :confused: WTF is he on about? LOL The Z32 has multilink suspension all round which is just a complicated arrangement of wishbones in effect LOL. Does the Mk3 soup even have an LSD??? :confused:

No comparison really. The Mk3 is an older design. The Z32 is a competitor for the Mk4 Supra (which is far more advanced then the Mk3).

 

Z32 uses Independent Multi-link Suspension all round and the UK and US spec cars have electronic adjusting rear suspension.

 

Nissan actually purschased a Cray X/MP Supercomputer (at the cost of $20 million) just for handling the complex mathamatical simulations for designing the suspension.

 

It also has Super-Hicas Rear wheel steering.

Bet the Mk3 doesn't have VVT either. Ours have TWO turbos :D

what about the engine side of it ??

 

at 232bhp, the Supra turbo is closer to the 300ZX NA than the TT!! :p

If I were you I'd line up your Zed against his Supra (on a private track of course) and race him.... with a large amount of money at stake! Then you'll see how much he believes what he is saying (and if he's stupid enough too, hell lose his money!).

so far he has put some washers on his wastegate ( some trick to up the bhp ) so now apparently his car will give mine a run for its money. Ive only had a jwt chip from ztech and air filter. Should be even match ???

Apart from the engines performance and the multilink supspension and the interior kit that comes as standard, if you park them side by side, ones got nuts and ones for women (no offence women). he couldn't argue whislt looking at one surely!!!

On the local ASDA car park that should be enough to prove it! (after 5pm Sundays)

The shimming the wastegate trick, does give the MKIII noticeably more power, but still far far less than the 300zx. I must say I prefer the interior of the MKIII supra to the 300zx, I liked the fact that it had FULL leather interior - door cards and all. It was also more comfy - not by much though.

 

The MKIII does have LSD, but with standard tyres the grip is TERRIBLE, really bad. Chuck the MKIV wheels on it and it totally transforms the handling.

 

The MKIII I had was nothing like the performance of the 300zx I now have, and I had the 3.0 Turbo model.

 

Still, the MKIII Supra is a great car and I loved it whilst I had it. They suffer from terrible head gasket problems though.

As dave says above, Ive had the Mk3 Turbo and shimmed the wastegate too, fitted induction kit and decatted and modified the exhaust.

Very fast, but still knowhere near as fast as a Zed TT.

 

I always thought my Mk3 Turbo was quick until I drove the Zed.

As its been gone over before, the 300zx was designed as a direct competitor to the MKIII and simply crushed it in performance/handling etc etc.

 

The MKIV Supra was designed to do to the 300zx what the Zed did to the MKIII Supra. Whether they achieved that is an age old arguement.

if youve already got a JWT chip then you can up your boost with boost jets ;)
