Removable Tow Bar

I'm just playing with this idea at the moment but, I've had a couple of people interested in the removable tow bar that I've made.

If I were to offer a kit of all the hardware welded and made up, all electrics and fitting instructions, how many people would be interested, the price inc. p&p would be about £120?

Please note that at present it is designed for use on a J'Spec bumper, i.e with the square number plate.

I will offer the drawings/specifications foc, as well, just as soon as I've done them smile.gif

Let me know guyz

I'd be interested in that (for a bike trailer).

If I could drive to yours and you could help me fit it this weekend then I'd be very interested.

I'd be interested - but I have a question..

Since the towbar is not 'e' marked, is it actually legal for use in the UK? I have a feeling it may not be...

OK.. Perhaps I retract that.. Maybe I'm making it up - seem to remember reading it somewhere on http://www.tow-bars.co.uk that theirs were not e marked, and therefore not actually legal... But I can't find it now!

Dylan, I would love to help but I can't see how I can possibly make another one by then, sorry. Are you interested in getting one after Kemble?

Aaron, partly correct, it's actually vehicles registered after 1st August 1998 that need an 'ec' approved tow bar, so most of us should be okay biggrin.gif

WoW. I seem to remember being issued a FATWAH some weeks ago when I dared to raise the subject of a tow bar on the mighty Z.

How things change!!

Yeah, they'll all be converting their manuals to autos next ! biggrin.gif

I might still be interested, depending on how much I enjoy Kemble. I'll let you know afterwards

Have you got any pics of the said item?

You asked for it... biggrin.gif

1. Bar removed

2. Number plate hinged to reveal 'female' socket.

3. Bar extension and electrics, n.b. magnet (from old speaker) on the mounting plate.

4. Bar extension in place

5. Close up of bar extension in place.
