Hi Guys

Had my Z for week and a half now - and I am wondering why I didn't get one years ago when I first wanted one!!!! What a fun car.

I got may hands on a red Jap TT manual SWB with a tin top.

I am looking for good sources of info on the car - I see you peope are all really helpfull and it looks like a good forum.

Will be looking to do some mods over the coming months - Brakes first - cars in Japan don't do 160mph do they?

Anyone know of specialists close to Bristol area? Usually I have most of my tuning work done by a Paul at Castle Coombe Motors  (next to the racetrack, which is where the car is going to end up being used on the weekend).

Just to say Hello to all too, another Zedhead converted!

Hi Ivan welcome to the club. Im from Bristol too and we have a meet on Sunday if u want to pop along and meet some of us. As for experts on the cars this place is full of them. for any work on your car I would recommend z-tech which is based swindon way. Ive used pro-tech in nailsea and would not reccomend them. upgrades, well brakes are a good starting point if u have 17's or bigger then skyline brakes work well.

If you need a conzult test on your car then i can do that for you. Theres a few of us in bristol inc Shunter and Yawcheck.

Cheers Guys

I looked long and hard and finally found a low milleage SWB TT manual.

Had to comprimise on the colour (wanted black got a wine red metallic ish) and no targa top, but glass is heavier than steel! All standard apart from the back boxes which have been replaced with 4 1/2" pipes each side (not too happy with 'em but they are growing on me)

Very happy with the way it sticks to the road and unsticks too, not so happy with fuel economy - OK on a long run but around town I have to plan the journey via the shell garages!!! Which leads to a question - what is the best fuel? I have used optimax and esso super but would appreciate the experiences from you lot.

Cheers

Ivan

Working on some photos

keep it to Optimax if you can, Jap engines are designed to run on 100 ron, Optimax is the closest at 98 RON!!

Colour wise, that'll be Cherry Red Pearl then :D very nice colour indeed, and quite rare over here. Last time I checked there were only three in the club, and one of them has gone.................... And another one is mine :D

Fuel, agree with Chunk stay with Optimax

Oh! And welcome to the mad house ;)

I have had a couple of imported scooby's already but they were both tuned up and needed octane booster.

Will stick to the expensive stuff then.

I would not describe the colour as Cherry Red, maybe a black cherry......

But I can see that you are sure there that the red paint is lighter and therefore faster ........

Ivan

Still working on the photos

I have some on the PC but can't get them into a message

Thats about it in that region, but it could always have been resprayed in a non-standard colour :D

OK cherry Red Pearl it is then. :nelson:

nice to know that it is going to be a real pain in the arse to find the right colour to get those couple of paint chips repaired then......

It shouldn't be. I've just had my rear end smoothed and the whole boot lid wanted respraying, I was worried that the new paint wouldnt match up with the rest. But take a look at this pic, this is after the paint job (obvious statement that was :nelson: ) new paint on boot lid, existing paint on the rear wing (although the shadow doesnt do it justice), it is a perfect match :D

It was taken straight from the paint code on the VIN plate.

That gives me a bit more confidence - Really like the smooth finish at the back

I have been toying with the idea of removing the standard spoiler, less downforce = more top speed Hmmmm

Will have to be pencilled in the bottom of the list of mods, but with the $ being so low the body kits from USA are a steal at the mo.

Welcome to the club Ivan. Like everyone says: * this is the best source of info you can get in the world(!), and * use Optimax (even tho ive not put a drop in my tank after 18 months cos i cant afford it! )

Definately go to Z Tech he is near Lambourne...

$ is good at the moment but the cost of shipping for body parts double the price everytime
