Hi Guys, I have just got my Z (import) and was wondering if running it on Optimax will be ok or do i need to use octane booster as well?

Will it do the engine much damage in the long run or would it be safer to have the ECU re-mapped to run on UK petrol?

Should i have it checked out on a rolling road before too long?

I use optimax by itself, no problems encountered! :) Saying that, Im running different maps to standard.

Optimax will do you fine, most people here run on that stuff. One or two just use plain old supermarket fuel! A remap would probably be best in the long run and a neccesity if you are going to up the boost.

in the FAQ section there is a list of "things to do before you modify your car" these IMHO are a good list of general health checks for your motor and should highlight any major probs that may be lurking.

5 years of running a TT Jap import on Optimax - standard boost, standard maps - no probs. (Well, no fuel-related ones, anyway) :)

Optimax has the highest octane rating of all our fuels(98)esso super is 97. It is advisable to run it on the best possible fuel, especially if you have a high boost setting ;)

Ive heard that using octain booster can lead to burnt valves :(
