Is it ever worth re-locating the det sensor or should it be replaced in exactly the same place where Nissan intended?

Nissan put it there for a reason , I have seen and read write ups on relocating it but tbh where it is located at the moment is the best place imho

I just had this done and

1) I wish I'd got Baggins to do it

2) The world renowned Lymon agrees with Baggins. Even though the idea for relocating came from another Z guru (Henri LeHir) so it should work, it is still a get-round rather than an upgrade.

3) If your knock sensor is gone, odds are there's loads of little bits which can usefully be done at the same time. Hoses, PCV valves, fuelpipes, injector o-rings, coil-pack connectors (or even engine harness), timing belt, water pump etc etc. It's a big job so give yourself time to plan it and get the parts in advance. But when it's done (as long as you don't get a cowboy to do it) the top bit of your engne should be OK for ages (fingers crossed).

Think of it as a whole shedload of preventative maintenance.

As the idling has been very slightly up and down and i'm a little more than fussy when it comes to having a car that runs perfectlyin the last few weeks i've done:

PCV valves

New plugs

AAC and the two other valves

Throttle bodies

Clean out idle screw

New temp sensor

TPS on it's way will fit this weekend.

Checked the resistance between the connector and the ECU from the Det Sensor and it's fine.....checked the resistance between the connector and the Det Sensor and it's ***ked.

Baggins is fitting a new one and a chip Saturday.....
