the one with the big fun bags was nice but could'nt sing LOL

Rock-wise, I've seen Metallica, Bon Jovi, Faith no More and Thunder

But the one I'm gutted about......I had a ticket to see Queen at Knebworth back in '86 (IIRC), but that very day I flew back from a holiday in Ibiza and my flight was delayed   I landed at Gatwick an hour after the concert started and missed it.

A never to be repeated experience

Richard :(

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

a bit ironic but when he died "drop dead Fred" was on at the pictures with Rik Mayall

Some classic performances and some world class crap ones always to be seen at reading festival (not exactly rock any more though) been every year from '95 through to '02 too old for it now at 27 im pretty much 10 years older than the average punter there these days! went for a few hours one day this year and hated it, im such an old codger!

Couple that spring to mind were stone roses last ever performance, they sucked. offspring a few years back (cant remember the year) green day in 01 or was it 02, and daphne and celeste getting piss chucked at them! :D

Hmmm let me see

Major ones are (dates are a bit blurred)

Stafford Poly Late 78,79,80 - Toyah, Simple Minds, Salford Jets, The Mekons and accidentally Dexy's Midnight Runners + loads of others

Victoria Hall 1981ish, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent - The Clash supported by Toots and The Maytals

1982 - Colston Hall, Bristol - Stiff Little Fingers (awesome)

1982- Doncaster - The Angelic Upstarts - 1st time I got a serious kicking!!!!

1984?? - Reading Rock Festival - The Stranglers, Big Country, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and loads of others

The I got married and there was a big gap (not in the wife though!!!!)(apart from between her ears!!!!)

1991 - Edinburgh - Transvision Vamp - Go Wendy go!!!

Another big gap due to kids and serving in Germany then....

(Oh apart from in 1996 saw Runrig at the Phillipshalle in Dusseldorf)

1997 - Barbican, York - Runrig

1998 - Manchester - Runrig (again)

2001 - Nottingham - Bryan Adams

2002 - Newcastle - Texas

2003 - Harrogate - The Vibrators, abso-bloody-lutely fantastic my ears are still ringing now!!!!!!!

2004 - Knaresboro - The Damned

V5 ??????????

Bloody youngsters

apache, how can you go to so many gigs and still only see three (maybe four) rock acts? :D

Don't ask me for the years but

Status Quo / Budgie / Steve Gibbons Band / Steve Marriott Allstars / Thin Lizzy / Doctors of Madness (and others) all on the same bill at Olympia

Emerson Lake and Palmer (Welcome Back My Friends Tour, Empire Pool)

Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Give Me The Good Earth Tour, Roundhouse)

Yes (Hammersmith Odeon)

Deep Purple (Empire Pool)

Larry Miller Band (Guildford and Reading)

Motorhead (Bracknell Sports Centre)

Hawkwind (Guildford)

Genesis (late period so more pop than rock) (Wembley Arena) (crap gig and some b*stard stole my tankard)

ahhhhh happy days

Oh and The Stranglers (first time round - posing tossers)

Wishbone Ash (long live the Turners and the Flying V)

Climax Chicago Blues Band

John Mayall

The Darts! (Rock'n'Roll rather than Rock but clearly a band amongst bands)

John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett

Probably enough nostalgia for now hehehe you just can't beat a good ol' 12 incher. :duffer:

Gio - my "musical taste" in my youth was Punk Rock orientated. Now I'll listen to most things from Simon and Garfunkel, Dido, Korn and a hundred others and also and undeniably the greateat band of all time THE RAMONES!!!!!!

So where is good old Johnny Rotton and the Sex Pistols? You must have seen the Great Rock and Roll Swindle?:D;)

Yikes.. More like something I'd expect Andy to say

As for gigs.. none.. zip.. nada.. unless going to see some Black Sabbath tribute band at Fibbers nightclub in York counts? We left as my mate (who was more into music than me at the time*) thought it was too loud..

And we were with our mums :nelson:

I've led such a sheltered life..

*No idea if he's still more into music than me.. but I'm currently working my way through 3.9days worth of music in my iTunes folder.. all legally bought, of course. cough. ahem. :nelson:

Have got the DVD but by the time I got back to the UK (I was living in Malta at the time) they had headed off to the US of A and pressed the self destruct button.

They only ever produced 4 decent singles and 1 album though and Never Mind The *****cks is right up there as a classic. Still got my original Compact Cassette copy that I bought in Malta.

Also John Peel  (God rest his soul) was an absolute hero, not just to Punk artists, but many hundreds of others too, and his show on BFBS was awesome!!!!

Blimey, I've seen hundreds of bands, big overlap with Gio's (notably Larry Miller - virtually no one else seems to have ever seen him) and most of the big rock bands over the past 20 odd years, starting with Samson, Saxon, Iron Maiden etc and moving forward from there. Must have seen Hawkwind 20 times as well. I actually have a gig list of all the ones I ever went to and it stretches to 2 school exercise books !

Well yes, but I generally tried to avoid festival type things. Have still been to Reading, Knebworth, Donnington, Glastonbury etc though.
