WHEN FITTING A NITOUS SYSTEM TO A 300ZX WILL I NEED TO UPRATE MY INJECTORS? I WILL BE RUNNING AN EXTRA 150BHP WOULD THIS BE SAFE??

ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANY OTHER MODS I WILL NEED PRIOR TO FITTING THE WET NO2 KIT?

ALSO IM HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN MY CAR HITS APPROX 135MPH...MY SPEEDO CUTS OUT  ONLY TO START WORKING AGAIN AT APPROX 20MPH (WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON)????????????????????

Dont expect your motor to last very long using a 150bhp hit of nitrous!!! even with a progressive controller thats one hell of a lot! most people regard 450bhp as about as far as the 300zx engine can go without needing a full rebuild and better internals, some have had bad problems running a lot less. A 50-75hp wet kit is a safer bet (wet kits add extra fuel as well as noz to the mixture to make sure you dont run lean, so no need to fiddle with the injectors)

make sure you have a decent air fuel meter - to gauge wether your running lean - max i would run is 100 shot - its not worth it for the extra 50 bhp and one dead motor !

Make sure your car is running sweet before you go and stick it on - as any flaw will be amplified if its pushing out loads more power !

Most of all - good luck - NOS is the way

Ive had duff info then..thanks for that...the supplier told me that with this kit it's safe to run 50% of the original bhp...I'll set it for 50bhp if poss.

Thanks

Do you not know why my speedo keeps cutting off at 135mph???

everybody seems to be avoiding this question..

Adam,

Firstly, lose the caps mate :)

Generally speaking it is recommended that you dont add more that 100 shot of NOS on a standard engine with people generally settling between 25 - 75. And Anything over 50 without a controller may give you problems. The reason for this is that you are going to dump the HP through your back wheels in one hit and the torque (for 100bhp shot of Nos, you will be putting 200ft/lb of torque thru there) This can do two things a) shred you transmission and b) spin your car like a top.

Using a wet kit, you will not need to uprate your injectors ( as the fuel is supplied by the fuel solenoid) but for safety's sake, you may want to change the fuelling map in your chip so that you are running a little rich.

You want to check that the Nos system is not robbing the injectors of fuel pressure:

If your fuel solenoid for your wet system is taking sufficient pressure to make the injection system run below its designed pressure, your car will run lean and expensive bangs will follow.

dont worry jock caps were a mistake.
