Well people,

It's been exactly 2 months since my Z departed to Edinburgh to it's new permenant home. Life has been strange without the beast in the driveway and the journeys to work and back have definately not been as exciting. My main reason for selling was to save a bit of money to start my own business but it has been very difficult to find the right type of location.

My current ride is a 1992 Cav SRi 2Ltr 8V. Nippy but certainly no super car.

So, what are the main differences between the Z and the SRi? Well, I can't overtake 5 cars in one go now, I now need half a mile to over take 1 car, I don't have 2 SQV's sounding off at every gear change, I no longer hear a V6 purr, but only the only nice noise I can hear now is the induction grunt, but the biggest disappointment is the feeling that I am not driving something special. Although it was nice, when I use to drive her, I never use to go round looking for attention but it was always nice to see the perplexed look on peoples faces whilst they tried to work out what it was, and why it had overtaken them so quickly and with such ease.

However, I must admit, whilst being lucky to drop on a Z that gave me virtually zero problems, I did get fed up with the servicing intervals and the travelling involved to get it done.

The few good things that have come out of selling the Z is that I now can actually go to shop, hand over my switch card to pay for something and not worry if I am going to go over my overdraft limit. Is that a better feeling than not having a Z? At the moment I would have to say yes, but ask me again in 6 months.

Anyway, I'll crawl back in to my vauxhall hole and dream for the day when I have a Z again.

:( I know what you mean, and I have only been without it for a week. I wouldn't say I was clamouring for attention when I was driving either, but I did like driving a pretty unique car- and knowing it was really special when you say another zed on the road. You could pass Evos, Z3s and 4s, big Beamers, S2000s, Audi TTs etc and you know you'd see another in a minute- they are just not unique. I used to look forward to going to work so I could have an hour's drive. Now I get in the ponce-mobile and turn on fooking radio 4. I think anyone who keeps a zed going is through dedication and caring about the car, otherwise you would sell it off and buy something boring. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to. I got to a point where I had to have something economical (and boring) and it had to be as reliable as possible, and I am not a rich guy- I can't afford road tax, insurance, repairs etc etc for three cars.

I am gutted the zed had to go, but I know what you mean about the bank account, knowing I (might) just be able to afford fuel for the next month. If your business is a success, what car will you buy....? When I've got her doing some work again ;) at some time in the future I will buy another zed- no doubt.

I don't think zeds are the greatest cars ever built, but I had learned to get used to the faults and I had got used to driving that car with all its quirks- like having shite visibility out the rear quarters for example. or notchy first to second. It was like I knew the car and no one else would be able to drive it because I know the duff things I had to watch out for. Not many cars look more aggressive, and people literally got out the way because of the sound and the size. Now I'm a boring office-guy. What a crap car. What I hate most is her sitting in it getting comfy on the ****ing seat saying, 'oooh this IS a nice car, oooh look it's got little lights you can put on so you can read in the back, oooh, when can we go to my mum's in the car'.

All you fookers who still have your zeds- . I'll turn off the violins now.

when i sold my first one for something more practical a wrx

worst thing i ever do actually had a tear when it sped off

a week after it had gone yhe misses said to me go on start

looking you wont be happy till you buy another so i did

wont be with out one now

True True!!!

If my business ever takes off and is a success, and depending on how much free time I will have whilst I'm working, will be the defining factor on whether I buy a toy or not. If you are busting your balls trying to earn some money, the last thing on your mind is how fast your car goes or how good it looks. All you want to do is get home, have something to eat, have a relaxing bath sprend some time with the kids and go to bed ready ofr the next day.

However, if I do before a man with time on my hands and money in the bank, I will probably trade the wife's CRV in and get her a reliable fast family car, something like an Audi RS6 or a 5 series BM'! Sorry - I know I said it.

For me, I will probably go and hunt down Tony Lack's Yellow beast.

hi cos,i think she was missing you at first hence the teething problems but shes behaving now, she's pretty much the same as when she left you apart from a lightweight flywheel new calipers and a thumping sound system i will send you some pics as promised as soon as she starts to look any different

thanks again for the chance to own her

Paul

Glad you are enjoying her Paul.

I have had more than my fair share of troubles with Z's but I'm still not gonna sell up. When they are running right there is no other like them. Keep the faith in your Z's fellow Zedders....

I'm still shi tt ing a brick waiting for the first thing to go wrong, but touch wood I've had her for nearly 3 months now and nothings gone wrong yet... :)

Such a change from my Focus Auto Estate  I could never go back to a car like that, unless kids came along of course. But I think that's the only reason I would willingly part with my pride and joy.
