As the thread title says really. I have never used a polisher on any of my cars but some people say they are really good and much better than doing it by hand. The ones out now apparently do not cause swirl marks and you get a fantastic finish, SO .. anyone used one?

I am just talking about the general ones here fellas, not the ones that heat up the paint and allow blending like bodyshops use.

Are they worth using and more importantly are they safe?

Cheers

Well the paintwork is fine Richard, just wondered if it was worth it really.

I got one, being Mr gimick and gess what? Load of rubbish. It's quicker to do it by hand and you get a better result. If your paint work is faded it wouldn't have enough juice to bring it back. So you use the old 4.5 angle grinder with a polishing bonnett.

Got one in the summer, used it once, put it in the shed. Never seen light of day since - absolutely crap :(.

Came with a nice big bucket and a decent sponge though, so not a total loss ;).
