good clutch control.

I usually rev it up to about 8k then drop the clutch, tends to smear black lines & bits of gearbox across the road but I haven't yet found a better technique...

  lol. what's your 0-60? 10 seconds? ;)

i drop the clutch at 4000 then a slight pause to get traction then mash it to the floor,

snatch 2nd but ease the pedal down at first then to the floor again

I find when I try really hard to get a good launch I always feck it up, but when I pull off quickly with out getting ready too, like when I suddenly see a gap in the traffic when trying to get on a roundabout, I do near perfect launches.

1) Buy an RPS Carbon-carbon clutch

2) Pull handbrake on

3) Rise revs to ~3k rpm

4) Lift clutch to biting point, balancing the throttle to keep the revs constant

5) The boost will now build

6) When you're ready, release the handbrake and balance the accelerator and clutch to get the best possible start off the line

DO NOT do this with any other type of clutch or you'll be going nowhere when you come to set off ;)

This method is great if you have £1700 to throw away ;):D

Seriously though, its all about balancing the throttle and clutch. A little bit of wheel spin is good but not too much. Don't let the clutch up too quickly or it will bog down. However, the stock clutch won't hold up to too many hard starts for very long ;)

Simple...

1) Advertise manual zed for sale

2) Break it when tyre-kickers offering £3k piss you off

3) Buy an auto zed

4) Rejoice in your new best quarter mile time

As andy says, I think balancing the throttle and clutch is the trick to getting a great launch and also have to agree with srrae about trying too hard to get a perfect launch can mess it up. I have had some great launches without thinking much about it. I suppose lots of practice and experiment will improve my launches so I am going to invest in the Gtech Pro SS so I will be able to see what efects differant launch techniques have on 0-60 and 1/4 mile. When I perfect it I will be down the pod for an official run :)

yep, but the real fun is had on the twistys and rolling acceleration from 30mph onwards and an Auto is well beat then, because you aint got the same control on the bends. So it depends what you want to do. Drive like an Hore or do the traffic light Grand Prix (Drag racing).

  :p ;)

I'm still trying to perfect it, hell I'm just trying to get it half decent but with this weather I'm getting fewer and fewer chances. Bloody rain is dangerous stuff in these cars...
