I swapped my beloved NA today for a boring boring boring deisel MPV. I couldn't bear to watch people come and tyre-kick so I part-exed it for £3100, which could have been worse I suppose.

I keep looking out the front wanting to see my zed and it's not there. Sniff. I will not be able to stand life without a decent car and will soon be looking for a TT or another manual NA. Once I get money sorted out again I will be looking again - it was a fantastic car.

I aggreed a part-ex, and the car promptly died on me. Turned out to be the PTU. Thanks to Jeff for the diagnosis over the phone and the part which saved my bacon as the car was due to be handed over two days later.

If anyone EVER is thinking about getting rid of the car- DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!! It will kill you. Yet again I am getting pissed up to try and forget- I loved that car. Don't get ****ing married, don't have pissing kids- all they do is spoil your fun ;).

Thank you and goodnight.

I got married last year and we're trying for our first, but I'll try my hardest to keep the Zed.

Cheers for the thought. Haven't heard from him yet. To be fair my dearest wife didn't make me sell up, common sense got hold of my *****cks for once. But I will be back in a zed VERY SOON. and I will be seriously considering another NA.

Bloody 'ell Rich. That was unexpected. I would have bought all your fancy bits. Just kiddin. Get well pissed mate, you deserve it!! :duffer: :duffer:

Peach, Pm on its way

Thinking about it I should have transferred off the zorst and wheels and kept them, but I was so gutted and it just had to go- I could not have had it on the drive, once I knew it was going, it had to go quick. I still have the ECU, but I hope to keep that for another car in the near future!

Well, if you decide to sell the ECU......

Damn vultures!!!

Rich :slap: i told you to keep me in mind mate........::(:(

But hey if ya got to move on ya got to move on, hope to see you in another in the future mate;)

Oh man...

Rich your car was lovely. After all the hastle with the stereo as well...

I know where you're coming from though, Im selling up as well. :(

Brian.

OMG Rich did u even put this up for sale?

id have snapped it up! cant beleive you p/x it

Still can't understand why people sell their Zeds when they get kids.

My Zed costs me 280 quid insurance for 6000 miles a year, less than Sky for a year. I also have a huge, cheap Rover to ferry the family around, which swallows just about everything. Fair enough though if you have limited driveway space. I reckon it's more an emotive thing, partner says, babies now = grow up, commit to your family and not that f*nny magnet.

And the baby seat fits in the Zed no probs.

My wife would never make me sell the Zed, because she sees no reason for me to.

I was dead impressed you had an NA and you were proud of it...

Rich!! Why Why

Your car was the nicest looking Red Zed on here even if it was a N/A

You should have offered it on this forum. You would have got more money for it. Jesus it was a slick top. I would have given you £4,500

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I lavished attention on that car- maybe another reason why the wife didn't like it ;) . Yes, I loved my NA- I do think it is easier to maintain and I was just beginning to get to grips with doing some 'proper' work on it, rather than washing it and taking it to get fixed by someone else, but I WILL be back in another one- and I will definately be considering an NA again, hopefully a slicktop too. But I don't think I'll get one in such good condition, even though mine had shown most of the 'classic' problems over the last year or so- clutch master cylinder, PTU, and stuff like that. Maybe people under value NAs and I'll pick up a bargain somewhere. I've still got the ECU, only the rest of the body and engine to attach to it now and I'll have myself another car!

I realise now I should have put it up on here, but it was almost like a guilty secret!! I saw other cars going for less than 3k and got depressed. I have seriously been depressed about this- and although I can understand what people say about not getting rid when you have kids, I think the wife had been quite understanding to be fair. It was a two seater (which, again, I loved) but I was going up to Birmingham every day of the week and it was costing £300 in petrol every month. I haven't got the money to keep the car and look after a runabout, so I have the beauty you see below. The car I'm talking about anyway. I got so fed up I just wanted the car out the way and when they offered £3100 I thought it better than having people come round to the house, although I would have welcomed anyone off here and I am genuinely sorry if there are buyers who would have been interested.

Thanks again for your help over the last 16 months- it's seen me go from a clueless nerd to a slightly less clueless nerd, but I do know that I will be back in a zed very soon. I'll still be around on here because I hope it will be sooner rather than later. I have got her to agree that if I can find a cheapy then I can have it to do up. I'm not one for letting her tell me what to do, but I guess there is a point where you have to be a bit less selfish- like the money on fuel and upkeep I was spending without us even having a family car.

Right now I can't bear to look at the photos I have of my car, or others on the site! and when I see another zed in the flesh I am going to flash me lights then feel like shit when I realise I'm not in 'my' car any more.

Sorry about dribbling on, I'm getting all emotional now!!

Cheers guys.
