Anyone know of any courier type companies that are willing to transport engines for a fee?

I don't think it'd work if I were to call the AA and tell them my car's broken down..

glad to see your getting sorted with your motor, I take it youve gone down the road of replacement rather than repair hope it all goes well and you get to enjoy driving it for a bit longer this time :D

Yep :)

Work should be commencing next week. It'll be an expensive job but I'll be looking forward to driving one truly sorted Z when it's all done :hyper:

Would have thought it would be cheaper to hire a small van and drive it there, you never know what its going to be thrown around like with most the cowboy out there.

The AA option sounds good lol to me ;)

the AA option would be absolutely fine if the engine were mounted in a chassis :D

As Stevo has said best bet is to hire a van and transport it yourself

As a bove, I went withthe van option, but be aware, they aint light :(

tell me about it jock, I dropped of the engine in question somewhere in Skegness. took me 4 1/2 hours to get there reaching a max of 15mph down the B roads. Was in a Fiat Panda Turbo though

Nick are you moving it from Martins  or are you talking bout transporting your whole car down there

I think he's talking about the old engine, as that is being sold.

Nick mate, if you need a hand with shifting it, give me a shout and I'll have a drive down :)

Dave - I'll be having my car recovered to Martin's this weekend using a popular roadside assistance service. ;)

Once my engine is out it'll be for sale. Have someone interested hence the query about transportation. Specialised courier would be ideal but if there's no such thing or they're inordinately expensive then I'll work something out with the buyer. Any tips welcome..!

Dave - Did you and your brother manage to lift the V6 it or did you use a winch of some sort? Thanks again for delivering - much appreciated!

Nick

the best and cheapest bet is hiring a van as the guys above suggest.

Just make sure you drain all the oil out or seal any pipes that might leak!!!!!

Baggins will back me up on that one :D :D :D

I was fortunate in that I picked it up from AndyZ in Thetford (he had a hoist) and drove ot to Baggins (who had a hoist!!) so made life easier.

Had to jetwash the back out at the BP station on the way home!!! lol.

You can hire a hoist from somwhere like DSS or somewhere like that only £20 - £30 a day I think.

Incidentally the total cost of the van and diesel for the above trip which was 600 miles !!!! round trip only cost £128 all in

Hope this helps a bit?!

Cheers,

Pete :hyper:
