NZR. Microsoft are Shit!

Anyone who has Windows XP installed I would start to download the Service Pack.

Yes only a few days after it was released Microsoft have released a service pack fixing a small amount of the problems which dogs the OS.

How the hell can MS release a OS knowing that in a few days the user will have to download a 100mb file to fix the problem.

You don't know MS very well do you. I tried to persuade my off ice to buy me a Mac but they eventually refused. So.......after shit loads of problems on Win 98-intalled 98 five times and 2000 four times, applications reinstallations 9 times (20 aplications), lost loads of work, changed graphics cards 3 times, changed mother board twice, change CD rom 3 times, changed floppy drive and changed processor twice. Now every morning I strt-up my computer goes beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep then nothing. I have to use the reset to get it working. Every fucking morning m8. I'm well pissed off but...........it's Microsoft.

hmmm, i put 2000 on and havent had a single problem yet. Stable hasent crashed , reads whatever i put into it.

Xp will try sometime this week.

Personally i think microsoft cant be doing such a bad job, because linex is free and it still aint as big, and Apple cant seem to get there shit together. (marketing)

Cant blame Micro$hat for your hardware problems Van mate, thats your supplier you wanna kick up the arse!

:)

XP is very unstable at the moment. I've had it for a while and had to re-install it twice. For instance, it isn't compatible with my Microsoft Internet Pro keyboard, WTF?? If you select this keyboard, your keyboard and mouse will stop working and you won't be able to recover/repair without a keyboard, so you reformat!. Piece of crap.

I have also managed to make it blue screen within 5 minutes of each installation. Really silly, simple things too. Not ready for the public IMHO. Win 2k though, thats solid as a rock.

I would advise people NOT to upgrade their Win2k systems yet but if you really must try Win XP, install it on another drive and have it multi boot.

I HAD XP on my computer and it ran fine. But I made the stupid mistake of using the windows update. I installed some critical updates for windows XP. After that, I got a blue screen as saiying that memory dump in porgress. After it restarted I got a message saying would I like to report the problem. OK shouldnt take too long, and it didnts about 1 min of asking questions and filling in what happened, I came to a screen saying click send to send and back to ammend. OK. Clicked on send. Blue screen memory dump.

It was a fresh install and I had no TSRs installed, so it couldnt be any of that.

I never had a session on the computer where it didnt do that. Even if I rebooted and left it doing nothing, I would get the blue screen with in 5 mins. Win 2000 is not much better. A few times I click start and get

Eject,

Suspend,

options near the shutdown options. WFT. Where have they come from? I know they are options but I didnt install them.

The funny(sad) thing is that XP was meant to end the blue screen of death and replace it with the simple error report. BSOD shouldn't happen anymore due to the new application memory segmentation that they have added to the XP kernel. Couldn't believe it when I had a blue screen within 5 minutes. Didn't they test this OS at all?? The betas were more reliable!

Stuart, those extras you have got in Win 2k (eject, suspend etc) are configuration options, nothing extra has been installed. You can switch them on or off in the control panel under the "power settings" screen (AFAICR). Suprised to see anyone having trouble with Win2k, as far as I am concerned, its the best OS M$ has ever done (not saying much admittedly).

Still, Lindows will come out soon and then all our worries will end smile.gif
