Hi all,

Just a quick question has anyone installed a PC in their 300, picking up a 300 at the weekend and was gonna be one of my first projects for 2005 thats if i dont spend all my money maintaining the car.

I just want a simple setup of a touch screen in the front with a itx motherboard, WLAN, GPS.

Would the battery be ok with this?? any tips or conclusions anyone has would be appreciated.

Cheers

Matt

I was considering this a while back - no problems at all in doing it. You can get all the bits you need from here http://linitx.com/index.php?cPath=24_58

(ITX motherboards, in-car PSUs etc.)

Only bit of advice would be to make sure that wherever you're mounting the motherboard is well ventilated.

was thinking of just having pc in the boot with a custom made case to keep it ventilated as much as poss. last thing i want is smoke coming out the boot when driving along.

Thanks for the link to the site much appreciated

Let me guess... you were hoping to hook up the Z's steering wheel & pedals and play racing games whilst stuck in traffic? :p

i'M 90% sure I'm gonna be doing this very soon. I have a Dell laptop PIII 933, DVD, 18GB, 256MB, wi a buggered screen & keyboard that's begging to be used for this

Just to add - you could probably get away without using fans if you opt for low power CPU & components.

Also, make sure that everything fits nice and tight. You wouldn't want a RAM chip to pop out on a bad road.
