Ok i've cleaned everything the AAC valve and the other two,put in new plugs. Cleaned out all the throttle bodies (again) and all seems to be running smooth exept sometimes sitting in traffic the revs climb to aroun 1300???

Oh yes and i've also changed the temp sensor.....

What else could case the revs to just rise like that?

Should i clean out the air filter?

It's a single Apexi.......

Anything else?

how about ajusting the screw on aac valve!

have you tested the TPS for correct voltage!

aparently cleaning throttle bodies can cause the engine to idle slightly higher to take in to account the new air-flow properties for the ECU approx 200miles or so

cleaning the MAF sensor may help but could just be the above!

mine seems to sit at 1200rpm when i pull up in traffic after 5secs or so it returns to 850-900rpm

greg

check the connector to the TPS is pushed in correctly,

I had similar problems fixed by this not connecting correctly

how about ajusting the screw on aac valve!...

Here we go again.... ;) LOL

The screw on the AAC valve is for setting BASE idle - this should be 650-700rpm. The ecu then controls the extra air using the AAC valve to achieve a steady 750rpm...

The screw should NOT be used to cure any other idle problems you may have...

:)

Don't worry Andy not going to tit around with the idle screw now i've got the idle running perfect i just need to sort out why for some reason it just decides to climb to 1300????

What is the TPS and where do i find it????

TPS is on the passenger throttle body - black box. Follow the lead that comes out of it to the grey connector, unplug and replug... May cure it :)

Little black rectangular box,if i was looking at the engine it sits to the left of the left TB?????

Cheers Andy

Throttle Position Sensor - reports the throttle opening angle to the ECU for load calculations. Also used by the Auto ECU for kickdown etc...

Yeah, bad connection means ECU is not getting the correct signals and will muck up the revs.

Sure andy will correct me if i'm wrong. ;)

:nelson: il leave it to people that know :slap: its just that my idle was slightly high so i turned that screw and it corrected it

deffo TPS, even though mine was adjusted correctly, every now and again the idle would go sky high for a while, then a few traffic light later it would be OK.

I replaced with a known good unit and that sorted it.

mine hit 2500 once with aircon on and in cold weather, now its at a steady 1000rpm, I think my idle valve needs a proper cleanout again, if not then its defiently needing adjustment as everything is A1
