Exactly where is the ECU on my Mk4 1994?

Wanted to see if any upgrade had been done to the car in Japan before buying a new chip.

Wanted to do it tonight but as its domp and cold I was hoping someone could tell me the easiest way to get to it? I am slightly confused as when I searched for the information different sites say its in a different location depending on the year?

    I assume I just have to take the carpet up and take off a panel of somekind?

    pull the carpet back & you'll see a wooden panel, 3 10mm bolts hold this down. the ECU is bolted to the floor under this
