Hello,

Over the last week or two I have a bit of a problem starting the Zed, I turn on the ignition, no problems there, dash lights up fine, then when trying to turn the engine over I get nothing, just a click and the dash goes completly dead! Like the car has been immobilised ? fixing it is as simple as quickly unplugging the positive terminal from the battery for a second then popping it back on, alarm kicks up a fuss so i reset it with the remote control and then it starts fine (although I sometimes have to do this 2 or 3 times before the car wants to play)

Any ideas what could be causing this? The alarm playing silly buggers was top of my hit list but I just wanted to check it couldn't be the zed before I take it to an alarm place for a new system...

Cheers

Dave

mine did that and it turned out to be a naff battery connection which kept kicking the immobiliser back in. if its an auto give the stick a quick push up as that also caused be probs.

Thanks for that fella, sounds like that could be it, I think the + terminal may be a bit loose actually, I keep meaning to get a new battery anyway so looks like the perfect excuse.

I dont think its the safety thing on the auto stick, but I remember struggling with that when I first got the car, spent about 15 minutes looking a right tit on the garage forecourt trying to get the keys out of the ignition!! stick just needed a little nudge!! :D :slap:

get a self tapper screw and jam it in between the battery terminal and the clamp as a temp measure.

Bad battery connection for sure - or possibly in the wiring directly off the battery...

Yep, double check the earth connections on the battery and to the bodywork.

shrimpy grounding kit should be with me sometime soon so Im sure that will help! will also be jamming in that screw before I go anywhere! its a real pain having to rummage around under the bonnet every time I want to go anywhere! mondern day equivalent of turning a crank handle!! :D

cheers for the help!
