If you have a UK Z you've got the gizmo on your handbrake of electonically adjusting your suspention settings.

Do you use it when playing? (on a track day) ahem!

Do you like the differance it gives?

Should it be on as standard? Or does it make the car too stiff for daily driving?

Have you setup a separate button for actuation yet?

And as of interest !!! my local nissan dealer (no names) diddn't even know it was on the uk cars never mind a std fitment jeeeess.

Personaly i wouldn't be without it, much fun.

Why its not on all Z's Nissan only knows.

Ive got a UK model, but not sure how you activate it! Its not a seperate button. Think you lift the handbrake up a notch and move forward, but not 100 percent sure. So cant answer your question lol sorry

Barry.

Barry thats what you do mate.

when the h/b light comes on it activates the actuators on the rear dampers & turnes the Z into a two tonne go cart :)

Think you lift the handbrake up a notch and move forward,

Barry.

Call me thick, but move the handbrake handle forward or drive forward??

p.s. I dont work at a nissan main dealers

I am waiting............

I couldnt get a job at the nissan dealers either, drive forward! lol

Barry.

hi Paul,

It was very embarassing for my local dealer to get the shock of there life when i took my old parts in for an mot replacement part, & they shuffled from foot to foot saying there was no difference ( oh dear sir we had no idea) !

Paul, glad to see a man who knows part No's & spec differances among us, result.

PS why in your own thoughts do my local dealers charge £68 per hour to look at my Z ? Thinking of putting the 30dett in a micra.

chuckling harve

The suspension stiffens up when you lift the handbrake up one click, so that the light is on but it should be enough to bind the brakes. I think the engine has to be running first for it to work. You can test it by bouncing on the back of the car when the car is stopped but the handbrake off and then try it with the handbrake on.

You can tell the difference more when driving, especially when pulling off from lights. The rear of the car doesnt seem to dip as much when pulling off. Also small bumps in the road are felt more.

The harder suspention activates automatically when you go faster. I dont know what speed but I think its at least 40mph, as I could tell the difference at 30mph using the hand brake way.

This is only on the UK though, as Japanese dont have it. The US actually have a button to change the softness of the suspention. The soft version is very soft and the sports I think only stiffens the suspention to Jap spec hardness. The UK/Euro, I believe, has the hardest suspention of the lot.

Call me thick,

I am waiting............

A missed opportunity.! :)

will try this next time out in car

unfortunately a trip for some petty first :(

The ECU has no control over the rear shock actuators... Heated debate time :D The only activation is through the handbrake for some strange reason...

Nnnnnnnnnnope :)

Will it still work once you've binned the stock shocks?

Shurely the aftermarkets will provide faster damping anyway, so who cares?

 just had a go and could'nt tell??

I will take the z to work today to let my mate have a bounce!

he tows a caravan and is always going on about rear dampers and shocks.....

probally get in to a long conversation about towing and stuff though

Yep!

I tried it on one notch felt no difference then after a while got a juddering from the rear, where the brakes were on! probs another thing busted on the car

Don't know about you guys feeling no differance :(

A huge differance on my car & it has 30mm lowerd AVO springs.

As for the handbrake notch senario, rewire it to a suitable switch in the ctr console ;)

If you need more details on how to just ask.

It's like driving with no suspension at all at the moment so I've got to have a play and soften it up a bit because UK roads arn't like race tracks

Is the switch the same as little micro switch that turns on the handbrake light? Under the centre console?

Have you got aftermarket anti-sway too? Because that affects the independentinosityness of the suspension, which makes it even worse when left and right surfaces don't match...

Try the Seattle track on GT3 with rock hard anti-roll to see what I mean. :D

Yep Zack

Anti- sway, camber kits, adjustable tie bars, toe in/out the whole shooting match front and back. I carn't drive it yet until my new prop arrives but my wifes Celica TRD is spine shattering at times, but you can still bounce it slightly. However my car is so rock solid there is no movement at all, but I'm sure we will dial it to some sort of compomise. Though I was just looking at what my options are with regard to the sport option.
