Installing a temp sender unit in the radiator bleed screw?

Just wondered if this would be possible, if the bleed screw was converted to metal, or are the temp sender units too big to fit?

Good idea in principle but would doubt the accuracy of the location, sensor really needs to be in the header flow to give a true reading.

see what your saying but the rad pipe flows straight infront of the bleed screw anyway as iv got one

This might be a good idea. At first I thought wrong place as well but this end of the rad is at the same temp as the normal sensor position. Its the other end that feeds from the thermostat and so that end stays cold until the stat opens and then it only sees cooled water temp? or do I have the flow round the wrong way?

Would you drill and tap the plastic plug or use a metal one and risk cracking the brittle plastic end tank?

I think Vinz did this with his Howe which has the same tye of thread as the stock Rad. Koyo may be different.

But that will tell the water temperature of it after the radiator cooled it.

Also the water does not flow around the radiator until the thermostat is open.

But that end is the hot end with nothing in between it and the stock sensor so the water is the same temp there

The end with the bleed screw is where the coolant enters the radiator!

I think the size of the temp sender unit is what it is dependant up on, it's dimensions would dictate on what happens to the stock screw?

Not forgetting if it's to tall it could foul the bonnet, can't see a prob with the positioning though, will still sense the same coolant as the stock item.
