Hi All

Dont get me wrong, Zed ownership should not be taken lightly, but Adrian Flux quoted £940, after being honest about the following mods:

18" alloys

performance twin exhaust

boost gauge

boost controller

air flow controller

rev speed digi meter

turbo timer

All on a Manual TT 1990, I do not consider the above to be ground shattering mods?

Im 33 with no convictions full no claims rural postcode etc, have they got it wrong or is a Zed looking like becoming out of my league, unless I sell some organs and put my children in a Workhouse.

Gutted,

Darren

Houghton insurance. Look in the traders section and give them a ring.

Yep Haughtons are good. Worth checking to see if your car is chipped as well, especially as you have a boost controller ;)

If you do take out a policy with Haughton, make sure you sebscribe to this club or you could be void;)

I'm with Flux this year - they have given me a big discount for being in this club and also a bit more off for limiting my milage to 5k per year.

I have declared pretty much the same mods as you apart from wheels, I am 24, living in Chester city centre, and I paid £637 fully comp.

As Mac said joining is worth while for insurance discounts alone, not to mention traders discounts etc, so thats a start. Maybe also think about your milage.

Twin Turbo, Manual, Import ZX mods declared up to a "potential" 400BHP.

£353 with Houghton. I'm 31 with no claims etc. To get it that low I was, of course, a member of this fine club plus I limited the mileage to 5k a year and made it my second car. This means you don't have to use your NCB on it either.

Jonno

Tanks for the info lads. Will save me 200 squid next year.

Thanks everyone for your prompt replies, if I go ahead with this car, subscription is a definite.

Alex, you have a good deal, have you insured your car for more than a year with flux? They will only reduce mine to £880 when I join this club and say that reductions would follow after the 1st claim free year? My quote was also based on

Jonno, I called Haughton, as mine will be a weekend toy also, so in effect a 2nd car, they will get back to me on Monday with the quote as I called a bit late. God this has been a rollercoaster afternoon.

If my quote is similar to yours

Darren

me, direct line 670 quid comp no mods. said I could reduce it by increasing my excess!!! (from 250 upwards)

Houghtons, 275 quid comp, minor mods 5 k mileage etc..etc..

If you can do it as a 2nd car on their classic policy its a bargain. no commuting though!!
