Hi,

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but here goes, I took the car out for a spin (Nice Weather), and just before arriving home I noticed the temperature gauge start to rise awfully quick and made it home just as it passed "H". Having looked at the car I can see signs of water/anti freeze around the passenger side wheel arch and under the car on that side. It took about four pints to refill the system.

Today I got the car warm and took it to the garage around the corner and put it up on the ramp removed the underguard and studied the car but there is no sign of a leak today.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

probably not much help, but i have seen this happen before on an import i took for a test drive last year.

When i got back, there was a coolant leak coming from just inside the grill, on the passenger side, but the garage wouldnt let me investigate, so needless to say i didn't buy it.

Is there an overflow or pressure release valve or something up there, in case you have a thermostat problem ?

Craig,

Yup , the overflow valve for the coolant system is on the rear of the passanger side wheel arch, if you jack the car up and have a look that you will see the overflow.

that is not the problem, The problem is more likely to be some sort of blockage or thermostat problem, check the resistance across the Coolant Temp sensor (yellow thing on top at front of engine) See if that is the problem, try cleaning and seeing if the problem stops.

Failing that there could be a problem with the radiator or the drive belts to the fan, make sure the fan is spinning when under load.

Basically the car is overheating forcing coolant out of the system, Find the cause of the overheating and fix it, Make sure that your Coolant levels are Ok afterwards tho.

Hope that helps
