i was just wondering what would happen if you didnt declare any mods based on th fact that u wernt aware of any

i mean, all th insurers ask "are you aware of any modification that have been carried out on th vehicle?"

what would happen if you simply said "no" and pleaded ignorance if you ever had to make a claim and got caught out?

obviously some mods are more blatant than others and you wdnt get away with not declaring bodykits and alloys (unless you kept a spare stock set just in case). but wot about, for example, engine internals? or turbos?

what do you guys reckon?

hmmm... am not so sure bout tht matt

if thy are asking you if your aware of any modifications then thy surely cant

penalise you if didnt actually know if ur car had any.

anyway, iv never seen an insurance inspection engineer pop th hood of a car or even ask to get inside. hey th last asshole that came to inspect mine dint even have th common courtesy to knock on th door and say hes here, only found out cos a week later one of my neighbours said she saw some man walkin round my car and making notes.

If you kill someone you are screwed, even if it isn't your fault,

I think they will make the payout to the 3rd party but will then reclaim from you that cost via the courts,

it depends on the severity of the accident, insurance companies use mainly 3rd party engineers to assess the damage, if its a light knock they usually just confirm the damage, if it looks like it will cost them a lot they will probably ask for a much more indepth review of your car.

It also invalidates your policy, ignorance is not a valid excuse usually.

mine only cost an extra £60ish mate

It aint worth it for the shite it can cause

I think I remember hearing about a person who had a crash in his Cosworth. The insurance company did an EPROM dump of his chip and it wasnt standard. They voided his insurance. The told them he didnt know about the chip, the put his insurance back but at 3rd party only, so other people got insurance but he got nothing for his car.

Well Yas this is what would happen.................................

Your insurance would be VOID,no matter what happened to your car even if it was not your fault you would not get a penny.

If you were lucky your car would get stolen and you would just lose the total cost of that vehicle.

If you were unlucky you could end someones life or badly maim them and you could be paying compensation out for the rest of your life.

Sorry mate, but that is plain stupid. :nono:

If you have modified your car and don't tell them then you simply do not have insurance. You'll find out if you make a claim as the assessors are not idiots nowadays.

There may be some mods to your car that you may not know about - often this is why insurers charge more to cover imports as there is an "unknown quantity" about them.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
