Best place to buy a Z?

I've only recently started looking for a Z and am a bit confused as to the best places to look. There are loads of private sellers out there as well as the importers and prices are quite similar. I've bought cars from private sellers before and to be honest, most of them have not been!

I've never dealt with importers before, but living near Southampton there are a lot of them around here, half a dozen at the last count and that's not including the trade only importers.

I love the look of the Z and on paper the spec's are fantastic, I've driven a mates and the wow factor is definately there ( his was given to him by an old boss!)

I suppose I'm just after a bit of reassurance, private or trade, trust or warranty?

I would say try and find one for sale by a forum member. usually the most looked after zeds around

i personally would never buy any car from a trader, most of them have no passion for cars and merely shift units to make money, best bet is to buy a much loved and cared for example of this forum, dont buy the 1st one u see, read the FAQ's, take someone who knows about them a few beers usually persuades people in your locally area, and just use common sense and get clued up on the known faults that can and do happen and see if they have been fixed,

My advice. Buy the best you can for 2/3 of the money you have to spend. Then get a specialist Zed chap to go through it, sort out all the niggles and give it a "^%&$^& good service.

Essentially, you have to buy these things on current condition. If you can't recognise a duffer, get someone from the forum near you to help. But leave some cash to spare, for cambelts, oil, plugs PTU etc etc

That's what I've done

Chris

Cheers Chris. def sounds like good advice, now just need to find a local Z owner, my mate lives in the NE and I'm 300 miles away!
