Had my jap tt auto about 18mths now, not yet fitted the

extra cooler :slap: . I 'think' i felt it slipping recently, not

100% sure it was though. Have decided i will opt for the manual

conversion if & when this is needed. Z'world cannot do this at the

moment as they are stacked out with conversions & have run out

of boxes to use! I have decided to fit the extra cooler & flush the

autobox out in the meantime. Hopefully this will improve matters,

maybe only temporarily though!

The question i wanna ask is: Whats the best oil to use in the autobox,

and any links to flushing the box out?

Cheerz.....Simon.

Hi bud. I think im in the same boat as you, just another 10 miles downriver!!! I've only got 1st and 2nd gears now and am expecting to have a conversion, even tho i had the extra cooler after 6 months of ownership

Why dont you see baggins and get him to rebuild u a bullet proof auto.

thats what I was going to say! :) Im eargerly awaiting updates on the progess of these!

Aaaah , the old gearbox radiator debate again. Has anyone, anywhere got proof that a cooler autogearbox packs up slower than a standard one?

The problem is real, but the cause is still not proven.

It is too easy to stand back from your car and feel the heat from the gearbox/cats/exhaust/clutch/back of the motor/interior heat exchangers etc etc and blame the autobox.

I think that the vendors of autobox coolers are the last people you should talk to about how effective they are.

I used to agree about the real need for an extra cooler, but my brother fitted one for me without asking, and said I really needed it. He only chraged his costs, so it was not for profit.

The kits for these arrived a few days ago so should not be long now although I have to say you will need and external cooler which will be included and fitted in the final price of these boxes to validate the warranty from both the rebuilder and Ztech

it does seem that more and more gearbox rebuilders are requesting that an auto box cooler be fitted, now these are the guys that rebuild these all day long and generally do not supply the coolers as they are more often than not vehicle specific so have no financial gain , if they say which seems to be the consensus that fitting one will aid in the cooling of your box therefore the longevity it does seem a little silly not too.

I think the problem here Chris is that the stock cooler is probably ok for an NA or a stock car , but lets be honest most on here are not stock and most are trying to push the envelops of power further and further , the auto box was not designed for this, so adding 20% more power will in itself throw up issues one of which is the fact your autobox will be working much harder therefore hotter.

you fit bigger IC's to cool airflow , you fit bigger radiators to cool your water so why is fitting a bigger and more efficient cooler for your gearbox wrong ??

I think most people fit this in the hope it will save a gearbox which has probably had 12 years of hard life , kinda like closing the stable doors once the horse has bolted
