I was on the A12 the other week and released i was going a bit over the limit so hit the brakes gently to bring it down to 70 ;) but as i was doing it i thought hold on this is struggling to slow down here!

 

Once i got it down to 70 i took my foot off the pedal and the car started to speed up by itself hitting nearly a ton! I sh@t myself! In the end stamping on the accelerator seems to release it :S even though it didnt seem stuck.

 

Now the pedal is a bit hard and i dont know whether it got stuck, but the other thing is the cruise control doesnt work and neva has and it was just like the button u hit to bring it back up to speed....someone told me it could be faulty cruise control that causing that even though i neva have it on.

 

Jus wanted some advice people...gimme what u got ;)

my cruise dont work either and am told it could be the switches on the pedals, perhaps u have the opposite prob to me, get yourself in the footwell and unplug the switches (u have to be able to bend like a pretzel to do this) and see if it helps, if it does then your pedal cut out switches are ferked or need adjusting..

Sounds like the throttle cable to me bud. The innner cable sticking to the outer sleeve.

 

Or seizing linkage around the throttle bodies.

I've had a similar problem. Difficult to describe what I did to fix it but here goes. At front top of engine by the throttle linkages are two metal breather pipes. On my car the one breather pipe stuck out slightly more than it should and caught part of the throttle linkages causing it to jam open and increasing the revs of the engine very high. I just knocked the breather pipe back in a little and put some lock tight on and sorted problem. Hope this helps.
