Pulled the rear brakes down today, anyways noticed a nail in the n/s,after a bit of cursing[new tyre!]thought I'd best get it fixed.

Normally take it to work no probs-but seeing as I just gave my notice :nono:

So of to the local 'thick fit'-and guess what? ''can't repair that m8,needs a new un''-WTF?

Goes to a guy down the road, had a chat tells him I'm in 'the trade'-all done for a tenner!

You gotta wonder how many bods get their pants pulled like this?-foookers :nono:

So then, for us mortals not in the trade ;), please could you elaborate on what can be done - so that others less knowledgable know what to ask for specifically?

Basically nowt m8!-If it was in the sidewall or aproxx 1/4 inch from it,then fair dues. But this was a good inch in! The other k**b was taking the pee!

Eh? I'm being dense here...... what did the guy down the road do that the thick-fit bloke wouldn't?

There is supposed to be a code of conduct in the tyre trade, which basicly states that all repairs must be with in a certain area of the tyre, must be a certain size hole, not too big, and must be considered safe to drive at the recommended speed the tyre is rated for. i.e, the tyres on a Z are Z or Y, can be W rated, which meands it must be safe to drive at 130mph upwards, as you do in this country!!, of course, in the name of profits, bonuses, etc, etc, its easier to say,"tyres fooked mate, need a new one!!"

Right nice an simple!-Thick fit can't repair it,too close to sidewall.

Guy down the road agreed with me-that it was o.k. to repair!

So the moral Is get a second opinion if in doubt[which I wasn't!] ;)

Cheers shunter-that was my point! ;)

Probably standard repair, drilled a 6mm hole though it, and plugged it, job done, 5 mins!!!

Yup!-more like half an hour!!-after all the ''nice car mate'' ''don't get many like this in''-owning a zed has it's downside! :D
