I'll be back on the road again soon and I'm thinking of fitting a road angle and radar jammer etc. What the best makes and prices.

Dont forget that laser jammers are illegal and you will be given a hefty fine if caught.

Surely the point is to travel fast and not get caught.

I know they are Illegal to use as a means of proventing officers of the law carrying out there duties, but I don't think the units themselves are illegal.

for 3 weeks after i had mine fitted i never got a bleep lol

then the local paper TOLD everyone where the lasers were gonna be, so of course i had to go and "test" it, the bleeping shit me, but certainly works:)

yup nowt wrong with owning one, how the hell they prove you have been using it I dont know.... they will probably only bother trying to prosecute people using them when they become very wide spread and they start to affect the revenue stream from speeding fines (road "safety" vans being the worst offenders) when it dents the forces pocket they will start giving a shit!

it does give a certain error on the laser (cant remember which now)

BUT if they lasered you it switches itself off after giving you the chance to slow, so they could stop you to look, but if it was a spot check and they found it, nothing they can do, (it opens my garage doors i aint fitted yet lol)

depends which model you get with regard to the error codes, there is a chap that can be contacted via ukspeedtraps.com (might be wrong url) who from somewhere has got a LTI20-20 (same gun uk police use) cost me £40 for about 45 mins of his time to test my LRC laser jammer. no error was display other than the same one that you get if you point it at something that is not reflective enough (like the road) cant measure the distance and hence the speed. well worth the dough IMO to ensure you are properly protected.

now to avoid all this try driving sensibly and keep the speed down ( oh forgot then there is no sense owning a nice car if we all do that ) :slap:

If i remember correctly you can get away with using laser jammers if u have automatic garage doors as this is what they are supposed to be used for.

As for radar detectors, make sure u get a gps one with laser detection and u should be covered.

To own a unit is not illegal, but to use one is.

You will be charged if caught and you will have very little come back.

The radar detector got away with being legal because motoring groups said that they are a useful tool to give a warning to drivers about accident black spots.

Laser Jammers have no other reason to exist other than scramble police laser guns so they cant get a reading of your speed.

If you go to court with a speeding fine, you can say your speedo isnt correct, you didnt realise the speed limit, didnt realise your speed creeping up, you had to get home to an emergency etc. to try get away with it or even just have the fine and points lowered.

But with a radar detector you have no come back. The posicution will argue that you only got the laser jammer so you can speed and get away with it. If you didnt speed there would be no reason for you to have it.

no, detectors were legal because the part of the law they used to prosecute people was being used incorrectly.

the law stated it was illegal to recieve & alter radio signals. because the detectors only recieve the signal & do not interfere with it in any way it was not illegal to use them.

people had been wrongly charged!!

laser jammers do actually disrupt the signal, which is why they are illegal

Cheers mate

I'm a big boy and have my own reasons as to why I would under certain circumstances not wish the Old Bill to get a reading of the speed I'm doing.

As to the why's and wherefores as to appropriate ownership and usage I'll take my chances.
