Q. Can not see myself buying your car, it has had the arse ragged out of it!

A. This is my pride and joy, it has done under 8k in the time I have owned it and had it serviced four times. It has been looked after. Every once in a while it gets treated as the super car it is designed to be, just to stomp on Scoobies etc! I cannot see myself selling the car to you!!!! Square proods are better suited to Saxo's, this would only scare you. I would not want any urine patches on my drivers seat if you took it for a testdrive

LMFAO:D:D:D

???? it eats 300zx's ok maybe it does, BUT then he says he will take a z ???

reason he's getting rid he has got a wife 2 kids and 2 dogs but HE WANTS A Z??????????????????

I found that strange myself .. LMAO ...

these are actually pretty good cars, underrated because they are rovers, had one a few years back, completly stock and fast as fook, would keep up with the zed to 60

he's taking the p1ss though if he thinks he will get 3.5k for it!! I sold mine four years ago, absolute minter, 70k miles, 5 years old, and I got.... 4k!! worth 1.5k absolute tops, probably less.

Do these use a twin cam Honda engine?....

actually fook it, im gonna flog my golf and look at a stock one of these for an everyday driver!! :)

Used to have an 820 turbo. Was good fun to drive, not the fastest car in the world but for £300 was great, all the extras you could want.

I was looking at one of these about 6 years ago.

The opinion at that time was the 2.0 litre engine was

Rovers and not Hondas (1.6 was) and as such was not as

reliable, and the 220 Turbo engine would throw big time at

about 70 - 80 Thousand miles (If it's been Thrashed/Modified)

usually requiring a rebuild.

the 96 on has the honda vvc engine (same as in the lotus elise) which is supposed to be bulletproof, but no turbo :(

Is yours a NA or is it knackered cos it would ever have lived with my Z 0-60

Its front wheel drive and they cannot get traction to start with. Then of course its front wheel drive so nailling it out of corners is a nono. Where as the Z is rear wheel drive with bags of power so nailing it out of corners is a nono

I had a 620Ti

fast but needed 3 head gaskets in 12mths

no where near a zed tho.

A stock zed tt that is! the rovers being made out of old baked bean tins and yoghurt pots weigh next to nothing. honestly a stock 220turbo would do 0-60 in 6 seconds pretty easily. I seem to remember it would fly up to 130ish without much trouble and then was a bit slower, hit the rev limiter in 5th a few times so they do get up there to 150ish top end too.

you are spot on about the corning, too much gas and the understeer was fooking mental!! :) would just go in a straight line rather than round the bend!!

Careful, I had one of these and it was a right dog. The Rover engine is as weak as a very weak thing, electrics seem to be allergic to regular use, and mine had a built in power shower - well Rover call it a targa roof but mine dribbled away happily all day long!!

Having said that, I do love the look of them and it was a quick little beastie - much prefer the Zed tho.

If you want one as an every dayer, I would recommend the later spec 1.8vvc. Ok, it's not as quick as the turbo (duh), but it's pretty tuneable, and 1000 times more reliable (nicer interior too).

defo agree with peach on the VVC one being a lot more reliable (although I never had any trouble with mine but it was only a couple of years old when I got it and was pampered) the VVC engine is sweet but the rev limit is set stupidly low on the rovers (6800ish compared to much higher redlines on the elise,), all the power is in the top end with these engines so you never get to use the best of it unless you mod it.

having said that I may be talking out of my bum, but i seem to recall a very high redline on the elise i drove a while back.. :)

They are pretty fast, but stock for stock they aren't quite as quick as a ZX - 60 comes up in 6.1 (ZX =5.5) and 0-100 takes around the 17sec mark. Still good by most standards, but the ZX does in in 14.5....

In the right colours they don't look bad either and you still get the targas :p

Handling was a let down though - not at all good in the corners (even a ZX with knackered suspension would out manouver it ;) ) and the brakes aren't up to the car's abilities.

The best but in that class in it's day was the Corrado V6 followed by the Calibra turbo - the Celica GT4 was way above those in a class of its own

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

its a rover noooo there all shit
