Poly Bushings

Hiya Zster's

Just had my car back from the garage, the've fitted a full set of new poly bushings as most of the old ones where knakered. It took the garage 28 hrs to do as they said they had to drop all the rear and front sub frames, is that normal for this kind of job??? Just wondering as it seems a long time to do this or am I just being paranoid??

I must say that the car feel and steers a lot better now I've got the new bushes, and my bank account is a lot lighter biggrin.gif

I have also noticed that I have a noise coming from my front o/s wheel when i turn to the right, any ideas???

Regards

JOHN

Dear John,

I am leaving you. biggrin.gif

Hehehehehe

Had to do it.

There is like a plastic mud gaurd on one of the suspention bars by the wheel.

If that has been moved slightly it would cause the wheel to catch it when you turn.

Stuart

man that is about 27 hours to long i think..

There are about 9 sets of bushes to replace if you do all of them. Thats 3 hours ber set. Hmmmm I dont think that is right. Some should only take about 1 hour to put the pair in.

How much did it all cost you, John?

Hi Stuart

I did have the lot replaced, the garage said they had lots of problems getting the bushing out cleanly as the needed the metal bits to put the new ones in.

Cost per hour was £25 but they only charged me for 25.

I'm not that bothered about the cost I was just wondering, I think it might be the last time I use this guy, I don't fancy him rebuilding the engine when it finally blows up biggrin.gif

BTW. I bought the bushings from America for £130 so I saved a bit there biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

JOHN(thinking of selling his Z and buying a cheap 4X4)

£625 to replace bushes???????

Well all i can say is dont use him to do your engine, cause youd then be able to buy a 2000 spec 300zxtt biggrin.gif with the cost fo his engine rebuild

I had all of the rear suspension bushings replaced and

I must say that it was a one hell of a job!

Especially, the big subframe bushings can not be pressed out.

They have to be drilled, ripped, cut and knocked out.

All that, without injuring the subframe itself.

This is VERY time consuming, so 25 hrs for both front and rear suspension is NOT an overkill.

Just my 2 cents.

Maciej

Thanks Maciej

That make me fell a bit better, though I had been ripped off for a minute

hmmm not convinced yet, though im not saying that its wrong, just seems like an awfull long time to do a job that seems pretty easy with the correct tools

Yes, that price sounds right... Just to change my rear subframe bushes was between half and one day.

any competent shop can do the rear subframe in 4-6 hours. So that leaves 20+ hours for the front.....
