Was looking to buy a 318 bmw coupe, looking through autotrader, and saw a black non turbo 91 300zx, looked at it and bought it on impluse, and know nothing about them at all, am finding it hard to fing things out about this model please help. performance? problems with the model? the good ponits " apart from the look of the car as i think it is stunnig"? what can be done to engine and body? and a meet in essex. it is a 1991 non turbo with all extras but no leather, and has 3 different settings on the auto bos that jst confuse me, as no hand book.

Congrats on the purchase. The Twin Turbo 300zx is the usual preferred version, but the NA version is a top car in its own right.

Power is 220bhp (upgradable to 250-260bhp).

0-60 is in the high 6 seconds I believe.

Absolutely did the right thing mate...zx or BMW 318...my daughter would tell you the maths on that one...What can you do to it...check out the FAQ on body stuff and the traders section..as for the engine...as its a NA less to worry about and therefore less TLK needed (the TT'ss can need a lot of care)..As a NA its putting out over 200HP so I believe...enjoy :hyper:

Well done on your purchase mate ... hope you have a fun time with the car .. enjoy ...

Quite right, mate. You may have noticed that 300ZX indicators work unlike those fitted to BMWs :D

If you're in Essex, you'll be well sorted for meets and fellow Z owners.

Theres one at the Dick Turpin A127 Bas(ildon) first sunday of month...

Ahem .... I happen to drive very badly in my daily driver mate .... and now I need a breaker bar just to get the front calipers off. fookin BMW's!!!

ummm 318I approx 115bhp

300zx n/a approx 220bhp

slightly more performance me thinks :p

318I approx insurance group 8-10

300zx approx insurance group18-20

so you will be paying a bit more insurance but who cares

ps..good impulse a man with good taste :D

beemer 318 coop vs a 300zx NA is a no brainer...

Zed evrey time and I've owned a few beems

the best beemer i've ever had was the 635csi and the Z is the only car that exceeds my satisfaction level of the 635s

as I know you will

I might even get a hold of a NA meself as a DD :D in the future dont tell the missus ;)

Excellent choice my friend, when I bought I simply said to myself "I want a good looking car" - the Zed wins every time  .

As said before, less stress on the engine in an NA, but still good performance and plenty to mod.

My best advice would be - subscribe to this forum. Why? Wealth of information, loads of traders/experts to help you spend/save your hard earned cash, good friendly people (made some good friends here) and great fun.

I had a BMW once, never again....Congrats on your purchase.

Congratulations mate! It's a top car.

The auto box switch:

'Power' makes it accelerate harder, hold gears right to the red line.

'Hold' is for snow / slippery conditions.

If you boot it, it goes into 'power' mode anyway and a light comes up on the dash.

BM or Zed??

Well even if you did wimp out and get an N/A ;) you still chose wisely. Welcome to the fold :hyper:

Congratulations on your impulse buy. Now post some pictures for us to see, subscribe to the forum and join the rest of us in the refuge of the damned (damned skint, that is, from running a ZX) :D
