I'm toying with the idea of moving from my S13 to a 300.

I've test driven a 300 and liked it. I plan on test driving another and if I still like the car I'll then get one.

The only vehicle I've seen so far that I've liked is the one for sale on this forum:-

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=36868

I would have prefered lower mileage and it being a few years younger... I did see one on Bonsai (94,55000 miles) but its already got a deposit on it).

My main concerns are obviously reliability and costs. So a couple of questions for any Zed experts:-

1) Is there anything obvious I should be asking about that vehicle (that I haven't already)?

2) Is the exhaust very noisy (HKS Super Drager Exhaust

)? I don't mind a nice mild burble, but I don't personally like noisy exhausts you can hear coming from around a corner.

3) Types? How expensive out of interest? (bridgestone potenza on front 235/40/zr18, on the back 265/35/zr18)

4) Now the biggy... This car is up in Manchester... Any of you experts up near there who would be willing to give it a check over with me if I do end up looking at it? (This is a big big if at the moment!)

I'm in no rush though, so I may just keep an eye out and see what else pops up. But something like this, maybe newer with lower mileage wuold be ideal!

Personally I'd be in a rush to subscribe and help support this invaluable place and members, just think of the mine of technical information you could be searching through :D

You know it makes sense :D

Well... I haven't even got one yet...

??

Just remember to budget the extra £20 :D:D:D

I think the HKS Super Drager is quite loud. I a have twin 4.5'' powerflow exhausts and I prefer listening to them than any music. They make their own sweet music and it is then compulsory to have the windows open all the time whatever the weather

God knows at the moment... I want to test drive another 300 first just to ensure I really do like them...

My biggest concern at the moment about that vehicle is that someone said the exhaust is loud.... I really REALLY don't like loud exhausts :( It would almost put me off the car

Basically, I don't want to be driving around with a car sounding like it's got a hole in its exhaust :)

Dont quote me on the exhaust mate .. I would have thought that it was loud. I am just going by mine, which are loud.

Someone will be able to confirm for sure.

Neil zeds are loud :slap:

Well, the one I drove yesterday was fine... And it had an unstandard exhaust....

When the vehicle drove up I certainly couldn't hear it coming etc etc...

we like LOUD

EH??

I can't hear you, my zed is running outside and I am being deafened by the exhausts.

I hate loud... I want a car that runs relatively quietly, or at least relatively quietly until its booted.

Personally I don't want to be heard from 200ft away! Yuk!

Most Zeds aren't THAT loud - some are but most aren't. Trouble is the age of most people on here, they think its loud :D

Why not? At least it gives pedestrians half a chance.

Bumpers aren't cheap... :smw:

Fair enough mate ... One with stock exhausts wouldn't be too loud and I am sure there are some aftermarket ones that are ok as well.

Mine has Kakimoto pipes on it which aren't too loud at all, unless I'm booting it or when the revs are around 2000rpm.

At 2000rpm, especially when going up a hill, it's been known to set off car alarms :D

Mine has twin 5" HKS pipes on it and they are nice and quiet until you boot it on a A road then the noise is beautiful, the sound of a powerful car, not a souped up Nova that's all exhaust and 1.1 engine

That would be fine! Is this what I'd expect with the case at hand?

I've not problem with a gentle rumble that's basically not much louder than a standard car when poodling around town...

single exhausts tend to be noisier i spose its to do with the fact that noise is travelling down 1pipe instead of 2 emphasizing the noise in theory :)

Neil - this is a golden opportunity.

I haven't been on this site long but this guy knows his stuff!

You could pay over a hundred quid for an AA inspection and it wouldn't be anything like as good. No where near.
