Need help guys,

My MOT center will not pass my car unless it has a seperate switch for a rear fog lamp, what is the best quick temp way of installing one?

Its a 1990 TT Jap import.

Cheers

Paul

For a quick fix, for your MOT, go to halfords, buy a cheap fog lamp kit, and install it.

For the longer term, you can convert one or more of the brake lamps, one of the reversing lamps, or even fit a UK spec rear bumper. Do a search for Rear Fog Lamps, and you'll find a few threads on the subject. I'm also working on a whole FAQ on the subject, as soon as my rear lights are ready, I'll be taking pics and finishing the post off, but that probably wont help you at the moment.

Dave .. I have a problem with mine. I got mine wired up to the brake lamps through a relay etc ... When I put them on whilst driving, not stationary it blows the lights fuse in the footwell.

I am guessing that he wired in the earth from the switch to the lights circuit mistaking it for the earth .. any ideas?

I need to take a look at the w/e but any thoughts would be appreciated.

It is difficult to sugest something without seeing it. But what i would sugest is to simply trace out where he has wired it into.

Basically, all you need is to follow this

attachment.php?attachmentid=344

Or somthing along the same lines anyway. I'm going to try and put mine through the high level centre brake light, when I get it fitted.

Cheers dave .... gonna have to have a look at the weekend .... Got a full service to do on my daily driver as well ... gonna be a fun weekend .. Thanks again

The problem with copying that diagram exactley, is that your l/hand and r/hand light pods have individual supplies. So to do that without having ugly wires everywhere, I would sugest two relays, one on each side.
