Hi!

To anyone who has fitted a leather seat kit from Luke at the ZCentre ...... how the feck did you manage to fit the bit that goes over the cover on the centre storage box/arm rest??? Did you rip off the thick foam? How did you attach it?

I've fitted all the seat and headrest bits and it all looks fantastic!! Everyone who's seen it reckons it looks like a factory fit, so I'll take that as a huge compliment to my upholstery skills! :p

Cheers for any help! :)

Hi, Sorry can't help, but would love to see pics when you have it all done.

Matty has a kit fitted to his one (my one doesn't have so many creases though!! :D ;) ;) ) but it doesn't look as if he's fitted the box lid cover. Hope he doesn't mind me linking his RIDES picture to this thread! :nono:

undo the lid from centre console remove screws from behind lid seperate tweed/velour and replace with new fabric and glue it up well underneath.

the material goes over the foam so leave the foam on there or it will get messy trust ;)

Cheers! Yeah, I was thinking I'd have to glue it on, but with the foam rubber it's an extreeeeeeeeeemly tight fit and makes the middle panel look a bit wrinkly  I'll give it a go, but if it looks shit I'll replace it with the vinyl that I'm replacing all the rest of the tweed with.

any tips on how you reduced any wrinkles/creases?

Spend LOTS of time stretching the leather over the foam padding, and make sure you get your hands in there to really push the foam into all the seams of the leather. I don't think there's any skill or knack to it because I managed it OK and I'm a bit of a 'numpty' when it comes to manual things... I spent a total of about 10 HOURS each, fitting the kit to the front seats (but then I did take a LOT of 'toke' breaks in between ;)

Good Luck!!

If anyone is going to fit the seats I would reccomend modifing the seat base slightly first as the Zcenter ones have an attachment bit missing compared to stock. This is the only way I can see of removing the bagginess from the seat base.

HUH?? What do you mean? I know the kit seat bases miss out one of the little attaching rods on each side of the seat behind the drivers knees, but after a bit of pulling around they went on fine. No bagginess at all.

I think Stu meant, and I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong ;), the two long thin plastic strips that run along one side only, as they tuck into a metal section of the seat. Thus holding fast, one side of the seat, so that the other can be pulled against. Correct Stu? :D

Ah, yeah, I remember now, there were a couple of the strengthening rods missing from the kit seat covers, but I just removed them from the original covers, cut a small slit in the leather seam and slid them in.

There are some strips of plastic down one side of each seat that press into a metal 'gully', these were an absolute bitch to get in, but once I cut a few slices out of my hands I found the blood to be an excellent lubricant for getting them in! :) :D
