Removing the Silencers as well as CAT's?

Hey guys,

I removed the silencers in my 1990 TT last night and what a difference as they were knackered!!

Didn't make any difference on noise but the turbos kick in far better.

Just wondering if i can remove the CAT's as well or would this be harmfull for the turbo's?

Cheers

Paul

There has been a bit of a running debate about de-catting on here of late, if you search back a bit you will see a survey getting info on peoples experiences with decatting.

The theory is that by removing all the back pressure the standard seals on the turbos may fail causing a fairly labour intensive repair job. there were plenty of people on the survey that had removed thier cats and had no problems at all, and one or two that started smoking pretty soon after the de-cat...

IMHO im not going to bother "just in case" it causes a problem, I think I can live without the couple of extra horses removing the cats is supposed to provide....

I agree- I'm going to wait until my stock tubs pack up, and then replace them with some T25 hybrids (not got that much spare cash!) with the right seals, THEN I'll decat

Cheers guys that was my way in thinking to.
