A Little Help Needed!

Hey guys and Gals, A couple of quick Q's and comments for ya.

Had my Toyo T1-S' on for a few days now, huge difference in road hugging ability compared to the yokahamas I had on b4.

1) Will leaving the 'Power' button on my Auto trans in the On position cause me to use alot more fuel?

Anyone here with an Auto use Hold or Power much? Until 2nite I had never used it till I pulled up next to a WRX and decided it was time to give them a taste of ZX. Mines a NA auto 2+2, dunno if he let me beat him or not, but I clicked on the Auto, floored it and watched him disappear. He caught up by the next lights, didnt look pleased, Nor did his lady friend (Hmmm this could be addictive!)

Also, As I have mentioned B4 I have a problem with my car having Hesitation under acceleration and surging/falling power. Could this be the fault of the Trans since I have the engine done by Harvey the ZX Magician? I dont know much about cars but I didnt think the tran could have that much affect on the car like that, any comments?

As far as I know, the "Power" setting just lets the revs stay a bit higher before changing up. "Hold" changes up sooner than normal.

But then I've been wrong before...

the button settings are up-middle-down, power is sports mode (more petrol!) best leave in middle position (normal) for driving but if you floor it the box goes into sports mode for 10secs anyway...

Only use sports for racing (unless your loaded and can afford all that petrol)

If I recall correctly;

Power mode: Kickdown is earlier (with less throttle), and revs rise higher - not actually sure about that one, never tested it smile.gif

Hold mode: Will start off in the highest gear possible, and change to top gear as soon as you are rolling, will not change down until you come to a complete stop - useful in snow, or if you are on a looong cruise and don't want to kickdown acidentally..

O/D on/off: On, overdrive is allowed, giving you effectively a 5 spd box. Off, overdrive is not allowed, you lose a gear, and your revs will stay higher than with O/D on - useful on the twisties.

That's for a Jap box. UK box does not have the power/hold options, just O/D on/off. On a UK box, switching O/D off has the effect of engaging the Power option on a Jap box, *as well* as losing the overdrive gear.

I had never heard that switching overdrive off on a UK effectively gave you power mode. Where did you hear that from btw? Thanks for that Az. Not that Auto owners have to be any faster since they are already far superior to the manual cars (here we go again biggrin.gif)
