Well, after a great drive home, Never went above 80, I got back into my home town, decided to put my foot down a bit, and something went... I don't know what, but now the engine is burbling rather then purring and it's not got any power whatsoever compared to before it happened. I think I may have hit the rev limiter for a brief second, and then it seemed to lose all grunt and it's running really rough :( What do I need to do to check it? Can anyone come and take a look for me, I'm in Braintree, Essex. I'm really gutted, I've only had it 1 hour and I've had to park it up for fear of doing damage by keep driving it...

Please help guys I'm thoroughly gutted right now...

I dont have a Conzult and I'm not the best ever on the Zed engine but I do know a little (Which is a bloody lot from before I joined this place!) and would be happy to pop round to help see if we can find whats up?

Nick.

try pushing all the coilpacks down, chances are ones popped out during the spirited driving. If that does the trick, then take the offending one off, put a dab of super glue or blue tack on the plastic and push it back down.:D

Ok I'm going to sound silly now, sorry... :o

Where are the coil packs? Is there an engine diagram anywhere on here? I did a search but couldn't find anything...

Nick, If you let me know a time that's best for you (anytime after 7:30pm for me this week) I would really appreciate that. I don't know my way around a Zed at all yet, and to be honest it's all a bit daunting opening up that hood. It's a bit of a difference from a 1.6 Zetec engine!

Any other night than tonight haha Me and my wife to be have an appointment with the Vicar tonight. We're getting married on the 25th September and we've got a run through of the day tonight with them. Can't get out of that one I'm afraid...

I'll give you a call later to have a chat if that's okay.

Thanks mate.

Prob will turn out to be something really simple like a coil pack connector, PTU or an injector connector. Good luck anyhoooo Kay.

You guys are the mutts nuts! It was one of the coilpack connectors. Top left one as you look at the engine bay.

Nice one, time to enjoy the car then .....

same thing happened to me whilst driving from leicester to huddersfield a while back, i was buffled and just started messing with all th connectors and the engine sprung back to life. think i need some super glue

FFS don't use superglue you'll never ever ever get the connectors off again  Did I make myself clear there? :D Best thing to use if you MUST is silicon bathroom sealant - only a smear is needed ;)

lol yes Mr Duff!

think il get some new connectors when i can afford them

I don't know if we'll let him in. He wanted to do wedding things rather than fix his Zed...By golly...we won't have that sort of behaviour here. LOLOLOLOL

Wedding? The next thing you know there'll be a bun in the oven, then it's bye bye baby zed
