I decided to wander over to GTROC the other day as I needed some info on Skyline lights. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=27002

Apart from a couple of decent guys they haven't exactly been falling over themselves to help with what is a fairly simple question! I get a distinct, "Yer not from round here ar ya boy?" atmosphere. You can almost hear the twang of a distant banjo...;)

Anyway, would anyone on here be able to find out the sizes for R33/R34 rear lights?

Cheers,

Leigh.

Leigh,

Have you tried http://www.skylineowners.com ? They seem very friendly, welcomed me there, or even http://www.ultimatejapcars.co.uk a few Skyline owners on there also, some of which are the mods, very nice bunch they are.

HTH

Cheers Dave. Just posted on http://www.skylineowners.com and waiting to be approved on http://www.ultimatejapcars.co.uk ! Hopefully I'll have a bit more luck with them! ;) :D

Friday,

Maybe you should check back at previous posts on this very matter. I did provide photographs of various rear light configurations: R32, R33 and R34. I also offered anyone who wanted to a list of meetings where they could come along a measure for themselves the lights. As you know measuring the lenses is the easy part - looking at the fittings from inside is whet really matters. As a fairly regular contributor to THIS forum maybe you could have approached me direct if you wasn't getting the help you needed.

crikey it was like getting blood out of a stone!!!! at least one decent guy helped you out!
:nono:

My offer still stands. If you want to have a look let me know. However, if you'd rather disregard my previous information then don't be surprised if people aren't willing to help you a second time!

They claim they are skyline lights but I wouldnt know......

They claim to be R32 and R33 "style lights". I guess that's cos they're round.  R32 and R33 rear lights are noting like each other in size and layout, but they are both round.

In truth they are nothing like Skyline rear lights! :D

If you want something different (but still 'legit' Skyline) try these:

Shin at Prospec Motorsport has ordered a load of them:

Indeed - more like old Ferrari lights, Magnum PI style.. they look like ass on a Z though :)

Those are pretty funky, but belong on a Skyline I reckon :) Still not convinced that round lights suit a Z.. But..

Back to the original post (rather than aimed at Fuggles :))

I reckon R32 light housings could be made to fit (the entire unit).. R33 no chance - the indicators are under the lights making the whole thing way too tall, and if you chopped them off.. where would your indicators be.. :D

I think R34 lights would look all wrong - they work on the back of the R34 because of the boot shut-line and the rest of the cars lines, but the lines on the back of the Z are straight, not lower in the middle..

All IMHO of course :)

I reckon the best way to get R34 lights would be to .. buy an R34.. :D (maybe when I win the lotto..)

Re: :nono:

Fuggles, I'd put up my post on here before you'd posted on GTROC - I'm referring to the fact that out of the hundreds and hundreds of people on that forum, only a couple of people even bothered posting up.

But forget about that, thanks for helping out our zx man anyway

To be completely honest, normal Z lights but clear suit the Zed best IMHO ofcourse.

Leigh, I've seen those R32 lights on a ZX before. I beleive it is on the PetrolHeadsNW site somewhere, but dont quote me :D A bright yellow one. Looks quite smart.

Steady on old chap! ;) Regardless of what has been posted in the past (something I was unaware of I admit) all of my posts on GTROC have been good-natured, and appreciative even when it seemed they were falling on deaf ears. I just found it amusing, hence this thread. You seem to be taking this way too much to heart fella, there's no hard feelings! Thanks for your kind offer, I may well take you up on it.:)

Went over to QVR in Daventry today and had a most illuminating (pardon the pun!) conversation with the main guys about fitting different lights and the possibility of doing some other stuff while she's in...if it all works out it could be good!
