Dont get me wrong these look cool and are well made but there not right they go upto 160 mph not 180 mph and therefore would be out all the way round.

Never mind

But you should be able to convert the speedo to a 160mph scale (I think)

You can indeed convert it by fiddling with the pots on the back of the speedo, personally i decided i couldnt be bothered and consigned the dials I bought to the bin... bugger.. :)

I was thinking more of changing the resistor, I doubt whether there is that much adjustment in the pots, but I could be wrong.

I might be able to do another GB on correct ones (180mph) if there's enough interest. They were the 6 colour indiglo ones with silver faces.

Might be interested as well Vijay. I've just had my dash apart to fit DTA's chrome speedo rings - do you think these will cause me any problems (slightly reduced access diameter)?

Hi Vijay,

Can you get 'em for jap spec?

Jap or UK spec were no problem, he has the template for both. IIRC the price was £110 plus a fiver shipping but I'll have to check with him if we have enough interest. I tried for years to get someone to make these with 180 mph clocks, finally found this guy in the US :)

Vijay

I'd be interested in a set of these :)

And me, thanks for the advice on the e-bay one's Kirbz, been toying with the idea for a while.

Hi, If its the same seller as the ones i saw they do indeed only go to 160, He also told me you have to remove the needles to fit the dials too. Isnt that a bit dodgy, removing the needles ?

Filthy.

No you have to remove the needles to install any dials so not dodgy and the guys whos selling these isnt dodgy as well i went to his house and he has a nice zed himself but i just didnt want people thinking that they could just put them on and it would be fine

No mate , I didnt mean the seller was dodgy, I meant i have heard its a bit tricky to remove and replace the needles correctly (if not done right)

But cant ya get dials that fit over the needles, without having to remove them ?

i know you didnt mate but i just wanted to point out that the guy is genuine and has offered to give me my money back :) but i have always had to remove the needles to install new dials, its usually against the stop to not too bad to get right

You have to be VERY VERY careful if you remove the needles. If the spindle comes out, your dial will be screwed. The ones I got do not require the needles to be removed.

I thought i had heard of dials that dont require needle removal. What is different then ? Is the center hole bigger ?

Filthy

yep, the centre hole is a tight fit round the needle, but it goes :)

If the spindle comes out, it can be sorted, it took me a couple of hours but in the end got there, had to drive around with the plastic screen off the dials and adjusted all the dials by hand and got them all back to the correct place. Annoying and time consuming but saved myself £100 (new clocks) and ended up with white dials  .

I also purchased them off this guy on ebay (excellent seller) but they were the only 180mph he had, not the indiglo ones just white with blue figures (nissan motorsport written on the speedo and 300zx on the rev counter).

Very pleased just very annoying repositioning all the needles so guys dont give up if they dont read right first time just keep on trying and you'll get there. :)

Hope this helps.

Ant

Hi Ant,

I've never heard of people being able to fix the clock once the metal pin has come out. It'd be helpfull if you can show us the fix cos I'm sure people have broken clocks that could be repaired :)

Got both fitted to mine no problem Steve. Looks mighty fine as well :)

Cheers
