August 31, 200421 yr Is there anything on the net on how to change over Autoboxes? Anybody that has done it have any tips or anything to watch out for?
August 31, 200421 yr ive just taken my auto box out to fit a new the only real problems i had were the manifold to exhaust studs 3 snapped on one side and they are very hard to drill out the lumbar sensors in the exhaust wouldnt come undone so i tied the front exhaust sections up to the rear axles im sure there should be a plug to disconnect them but mines a swb and if there is its under the seats and i couldnt be botherd to take them out aswell,to get to the top bellhousing bolts u need to drop the rear gearbox mounts and use a few extension bars to get to the bolts oh undo the electrical connecters under the bonnet they run in the off side wing under the power steering pump resevoir theres 3 of them 2 grey and one redddy brown, u should replace the main shaft crank seal while uve got the car in this condition as ive heard they are prone to go.hope this helps by the way it took me 6 hrs to get ready to mine new gear box and thats in a proper garage with a ramp and all tools u can imagine,,,,GOOD LUCK!!!!!
