chopper Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Just brought a Bomz lightweight pulley for my NA ZX. Can anyone tell me the difference that they make, and also i need to buy belts for it - anyone know where to get em from? In fact any information would be great - thanks a lot - Mike ;) Quote
davido140 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 My understanding is that by lightening the OEM pulley you free up more horses for the back wheels! The manufactuers quote figures in the region of 2-3hp per lb of weight saved (You should be saving nealy 10lb with one of those) but a 20-30hp increase at the wheels is prob a bit optimistic. There are some dyno charts somewhere on the internet showing a 10-15hp increase at the wheels on a TT with an induction kit and aftermarket exhaust. Wouldnt think it would be such a big increase on a NA though. Quote
chopper Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 Yea, thanks mate - i thought that the figure quoted of 30 bhp might be too much lol - should hit a good 20bhp though - and for the money thats good. I always work on 100 quid equals 10 bhp or there abouts. Thanks for your reply Is there any Nissan website in the uk that i can order the belts from by putting in a code number. I have a code for the three new belts - but when i type them in on courtesy US i get the standard belts come up !! Does it just take the standard accessory belts (which i will replace) or are they different sized to normal belts ? Quote
ChrisC Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Not heard of Bomz but they should be able to tell you which to use and the lengths. My underdrive pulley definately needed different sizes to stock. Quote
chopper Posted August 31, 2004 Author Posted August 31, 2004 Nice one Chris - thanks a lot for your help - ive emailed Bomz to see what there reply is Quote
ChrisC Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 Mine is an ASP one and they list the sizes and common belt brands and codes on their site but yours will be different. Quote
EvoluZion3 Posted August 31, 2004 Posted August 31, 2004 I've always been toying with the idea of an underdrive pulley. I can say that my induction cone is made by Bomz tho and it seems to be ok. Quote
chopper Posted September 1, 2004 Author Posted September 1, 2004 Bomz are a massive name on the US scene. My Integra B16 has a lot of Bomz parts on it - wicked company Quote
